Back on July 8, the developer announced a new format for the Apex Legends battle pass which infuriated the community. The major change included splitting the battle pass into two segments and charging it real money. Nevertheless, it seems that Respawn has listened to the roars of the crowd and is switching back to the original design.

Respawn Entertainment was heading towards a revamped system for Apex Legends Season 22 Battle Pass. This new format would have forced players to purchase two separate Battle Passes with real money. The cost would be $20 for the Premium and $40 for the Premium +.

This was something that players didn’t appreciate and all came together to voice their frustration. In response to the backlash, Respawn Entertainment revised the Battle Pass structure.

The original plan was to be set in motion on July 24, but instead, the new plan lets players purchase the Premium Battle Pass with 950 Apex Coins in the second split which will start on September 17. Nevertheless, players can earn the Premium Battle Pass through set in-game challenges during Split 1 of Season 22, which starts August 6.

To make things easier and quicker, Respawn Entertainment has reduced the number of levels to 60 and it will come with better rewards. Nevertheless, there is more to the Season 22 Battle Pass. According to Respawn Entertainment, they are introducing new tiers, Ultimate and Ultimate+.

The Ultimate tier costs $9.99 and offers all Premium rewards along with additional Apex Packs and Crafting Materials, but cannot be bought with Apex Coins. The Ultimate+ tier, priced at $19.99, includes all Ultimate rewards plus extra Legendary skin variants and the unlocking of every Legend in the game.

The official announcement went viral the moment it was posted online and fans have nothing but words of praise for the video gaming giant’s decision to switch back to a familiar and popular model.

One fan, in particular, said that this move is a step one and that the company needs to address the pay-to-win events.

Another fan churned in to the changes expressing thanks for listening to the community.

Moreover, another fan said it was a step in the right direction but had another suggestion for Respawn Entertainment, particularly on how they should handle skins.

While the fans are still not fully happy as it seems that the new tiers offer less for the same price, they are praising the sentiment behind the change as Respawn listens to the community.

This battle royale-hero shooter is still a popular game and it is no surprise that the community isn’t happy with changes that feel money-grabbing.

Will this revert mend up for broken trust between a developer and players remains to be seen. What are your thoughts on Battle Pass? Let us know in the comments below.
