Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind Yellowstone, is a true cowboy at heart. His mighty charm and way with words have enchanted audiences, earning him critical acclaim and multiple award nominations for his screenwriting dexterity. When he made the risky yet courageous decision to leave behind his acting career and pursue his passion for writing, it was a make-or-break moment for the budding screenwriter. Muirbrook has always been her husband’s rock. With a love for the outdoors and a deep-seated connection to the Wild West, her resilience and adventurous spirit have been one of the driving forces in the couple’s journey to success. She once told Cowgirl Magazine:

At the time it was like ‘let’s just make enough to pay a mortgage or rent or food.’  We were literally starving. That’s when Taylor started writing, and two years later, we were at the Oscars … I still can’t believe it.

Despite their humble beginnings and early struggles, Sheridan & Muirbrook’s love for each other and their shared dream of a happy life kept them going. Before getting married on September 18, 2013, the couple dated for a number of years, according to PEOPLE; they also have a son together.

When it comes to family, some people are willing to make big sacrifices for the ones they love. This was certainly the case for Taylor Sheridan and Nicole Muirbrook, who welcomed their son (Gus Sheridan) into the world in 2010. In a heartfelt interview with the Austin American-Statesman, Sheridan opened up about his decision to leave the acting world & L.A., in order to give his son a more grounded upbringing:

I didn’t want to raise my son in LA. I didn’t want to have to look him in the eye and tell him I couldn’t take him to a baseball game because I had an audition for a Windex commercial.

The desire to provide a simpler life for his kid led Sheridan to pack up his family and move to Texas, where his son could experience the joys of ranch life. Muirbrook echoed her husband’s sentiments, sharing with Cowgirl Magazine that their son has truly thrived in their new environment. She proudly proclaimed:

He’s never on his phone, never on his X-Box. He’s always outside with the dogs, fishing with his buds, or roller-skating in the barn. He also ropes, so he’s often on horseback.

Well, Muirbrook often shares snapshots of their happy family moments on social media, capturing the simple joys of ranch life and the love they have for each other.

Through it all, they have shown that sometimes stepping away from the bright lights of fame can lead to something even more precious: a life filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of outdoor adventures. Gus Sheridan may not have Hollywood at his fingertips, but he has something even better: a family who will always be by his side, no matter what.

The second half of Yellowstone’s fifth season will be released on November 10, 2024.
