Since last month, several celebs, including Lamorne Morris, Anthony Anderson, Kumail Nanjiani, and Kathryn Hahn have filled the seats of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in the host’s absence. With Deadpool & Wolverine set to be MCU’s first rated-R entry, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman gave fans a glimpse of what they can expect from the film. During the Tot Quiz segment, when one kid was asked what he’d love to ask Reynolds and Jackman, the kid hilariously answered that he’d ask the actor about who they are.

While maintaining his composure, Hugh Jackman hilariously replied

Hey kid, hi. I’m the guy whose Walk of Fame star you’re standing on, you little sh-t!

As for Reynolds, who was urging his co-star to not take the bait, in pure Deadpool fashion, the actor went a little too dark with his response, stating that he’ll buy the kid’s childhood home and burn it to the ground. While keeping a stern look on his face, Reynolds further joked that Kimmel isn’t on summer vacation, stating “We killed him”.

He said:

We’re the outgrowth of severe childhood trauma who have toiled away in this vapid, morally bankrupt industry for the past 25 years and now we have enough money to get away with literally anything. We could buy your childhood home and burn it to the ground, you hear me? You think Jimmy Kimmel’s really on vacation? He’s dead. We killed him.

Apart from inflicting further childhood trauma on the kid, Reynolds joked “I really lost it for a second there”, and ensured that Kimmel is fine, which fans will hope for, following his prolonged absence.

Jimmy Kimmel’s absence from his talk show isn’t anything new for the ABC Network, as during this time of the year, the Oscar host often embarks on an extended summer break. However, this doesn’t mean a prolonged hiatus for the talk show itself, as he hands its reigns to other celebs, which ensures that new episodes are being pumped out on a regular.

For now, fans can expect to see more celebs taking the keys to the talk show like Reynolds and Jackman, as Kimmel will join the show’s regular schedule once again on 2nd September.
