Who would’ve thought a title could be a superhero’s kryptonite? Ryan Reynolds just spilled the tea that the original title name for his epic team-up with Hugh Jackman was, um, cringey as hell—Deadpool & Friend. Yes, you read that right. The makers wanted to name the movie Deadpool & Friend! The Merc with a Mouth’s alter ego was originally going to be the sidekick in his own movie. Can y’all imagine?

“I’ve never told this story anywhere but the movie Deadpool & Wolverine was originally called Deadpool & Friend,” Reynolds himself accepted. On the eve of the Super Bowl, the filmmakers dropped the trailer of Deadpool & Friend, and to their surprise, the title leaked. Recalling the incident, the 47-year-old actor confessed, “[the title] leaked ‘cause of these son of a b**ches on the internet, and we looked at it and listened, and they f**king hated it.”

It seems the internet did the world a massive favor by leaking that title disaster. Deadpool & Wolverine might already be a box office hit, but critics are on the split. From high praise to meh reviews, the opinions are pretty much all over the place. But hey, one sharp critic noted that fan love’s going to take over the mixed critical buzz.

Directed by Shawn Levy, the film follows Deadpool as his universe teeters on the edge of collapse, teaming up with Wolverine to save the day. It’s a crazy hero’s journey loaded with Deadpool’s sharp one-liners and Wolverine’s rugged charm.

Forget the quips and the Deadpool swagger; Ryan Reynolds is flexing more than just his acting muscles. The actor’s trainer, Don Saladino, revealed his intense workout sesh that sculpted Reynolds for the Deadpool & Wolverine showdown. It’s not just about bulking up, though—Saladino’s focus on longevity and functional fitness has turned Reynolds into a poster boy for aging gracefully. Saladino told Business Insider:

I think in time he’s become more understanding of the importance of it and I think as a team we definitely embrace it together a lot more, I think it’s where early in his career you’d see him working on his abs. Now you walk down to the gym and you see him working on his mobility.

Saladino’s been sculpting Reynolds for a good 15 years now, and the latest project, Deadpool & Wolverine, was no exception. Instead of just pumping iron to bulk up, Saladino focused on making Reynolds functional, not just fabulous.
