PlayStation is definitely not throwing in the towel on the hero shooter genre. Their latest sci-fi first-person shooter, Concord, developed by Firewalk Studios, is another situation for many of hero-shooter fatigue.

Scheduled for release on August 23, 2024, the open beta of the game was active from July 18-21, but only a modest player base jumped into the sci-fi universe. Nevertheless, Sony won’t give up without a fight, and in a new marketing move, it has decided to add to its roster of PlayStation controllers, marketing an exclusive Concord controller.

Sony Announces Exclusive PlayStation Controller for Concord

Concord is less than a month away from its release and players on PS5 will now have a chance to get this piece of gaming memorabilia.

The game’s future aesthetic inspires the new exclusive DualSense controller’s design and features bright red and blue decals on a black base. The overall look is completed with a ship on the left-hand side and the Concord logo on the back.

While the vibrant color scheme is certainly eye-catching, the price tag is also a thing to behold. The exclusive controller is available for pre-orders through the PlayStation Direct website and is priced at $84.99.

While it is $5 more expensive than the previous Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 limited edition controller, its unique design and theme elements justify the price. However, the question becomes whether Spider-Man can be outmatched.

Sony’s marketing move is nothing more than a battle cry to lure players into the game, but they have made another striking error. For now, the exclusive controller is exclusive to the US region

Unfortunately, the UK and European versions of PlayStation Direct don’t have the controller listed for now. This might change in the future, but until that happens, PS5 console users have already voiced their discontent.

One fan has said they feel left out since they are from Canada and PlayStation Direct is not available in the region.

More fans have rang in to say the same thing about regional exclusivity. One fan, in particular, said they are Australian and that most of the console accessories are unavailable in their region.

Furthermore, console users from Europe are also unhappy with the deal as one PS5 fan simply said, imagine how we Europeans feel.

Furthermore, some are simply bashing the decision to make it only available in the US, while many others are asking when this controller will be available in other regions.

While this limited edition DualSense Controller does have flair in its design and replicates the game’s universe, fans aren’t convinced this will be a successful move. This comes after the beta, which can only be rendered as a failure

Upon launch, the game will receive regular updates and DLCs but surely that can’t be enough to mend the oversaturated genre.
