The recently released Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is quickly becoming a fan favorite due to its fast-paced gameplay and simplistic storyline. However, while the gameplay has received positive reception, players have noticed one particular issue that is proving to be irksome for many.
Like most games, Flintlock is littered with achievements that players can unlock by doing various tasks. Interestingly, these achievements are locked behind a certain difficulty, which prompted some backlash for the game.
Flintlock’s Achievements Requirement Is Ruffling Some Feathers
Though Flintlock’s storyline is pretty straightforward, and the overall campaign is short compared to many games in the same genre, its Souls-lite nature can catch players off-guard if they aren’t prepared. Hence, players have the ability to choose from various difficulty levels to make the overall experience easy.
Of course, selecting a difficulty level is a much-needed feature in the game, as it allows everyone to enjoy and progress regardless of the skill level. However, it’s worth noting that if players play the game in easy mode, which is “Story” difficulty, in this case, they won’t be able to unlock any achievement.
Game devs. Please don’t ever be like @PlayFlintlock and disable earning ALL achievements/trophies for just wanting to play on an easier difficulty and enjoy the story.

This requirement has aggravated some players who are not happy with the direction the developers took. Furthermore, since Flintlock is available on Xbox Game Pass, the issue has only been brought more attention.
Thank you… I literally uninstalled for this exact reason. Why do you care what difficulty players are playing on as long as they’re playing your game? Why bother having that mode then? Nonsense!

Fans haven’t shied away from voicing their opinions, with many not understanding the concept of restricting achievements to one difficulty level.
Worst decision of game devs ever. I played 20h and no trophy…

One X user has even labeled this as the “worst decision” by the developers.
Bugs Continue to Persist in Flintlock
It’s not all smooth sailing for Flintlock despite the early success. The captivating gameplay might have charmed many players, but it’s fair to say the game is still unrefined. There are several technical issues with the game, which have been ruining players’ experience.
Players have reported the game randomly crashing without any signs of error. Furthermore, the combat mechanism feels jerky and doesn’t feel on par with games released in 2024. There are issues with tearing in the game, especially when you move towards the later stages.
The audio is not balanced properly, and spatial sound seems missing. Overall, the release feels rushed, and despite early success, A44 Games needs to work on several aspects to polish the game properly.
