Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm was the best thing about Tim Story’s duo of Fantastic Four films, which failed to impress the critics. Fans rewatching the film would notice that he gave a performance that didn’t remind them of his iconic Captain America role even for a second. As Human Torch, Evans gave off a cocky attitude, which aligns with the description of the character as a reckless superhero.

Some of the deleted footage from the film resurfaced on the internet and fans are upset that one scene of Evans didn’t make the final cut of the film. In this scene, Julian McMahon’s Victor Von Doom comes to visit Human Torch in an attempt to tear the Fantastic Four apart.

In Tim Story‘s first Fantastic Four film, the titular team is brought together for an experiment at Von Doom Industries, which goes horribly wrong. The four main characters, played by Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis, receive newfound abilities. Victor Von Doom blames Reed Richards for the accident and loss of his company and is out for revenge.

As Reed tries to work on a cure, Doom plots to drive a wedge between the team. He causes an argument between Ben Grimm and Reed, resulting in Ben walking out. In an earlier scene, Evans’ Johnny Storm also refuses to give up his powers. The deleted footage of the film shows that this too was a game plan from Julian McMahon’s character.

In the deleted scene, Doom brings a limo car and a bunch of girls to entertain Johnny. During their interaction, Doom explains to Johnny the perks that come with being a superhero, including the business opportunities. When Johnny asks about Reed and Susan Storm’s opinion, Doom shares that the others are not stars like Johnny.

Fans believe that this scene could’ve explained a lot about the character’s attitude with Reed, Ben, and Sue later. One fan shared that the deleted scenes from the film were pretty interesting and could’ve added value to the original film. They blamed the filmmakers for removing such vital footage from the film. Some of the fan reactions read:

I’ve only seen a handful of these deleted scenes so far but all I can say is wow. What a much more interesting film this could have been. What the hell were they thinking? This is why they need to stop screwing writers over.

@seancollins147

Of course, it makes sense that Doom would make Johnny a star so he can start tearing them apart

@DaScorpionSting

Ok now this scene, that could’ve been in the movie how he pissed off Ben with the Thing toy and Sue that drove his fame ego up when he left the building.

@nickthedrawer

Victor is the reason Johnny Storm was a cocky, reckless superhero️️!

@brycefoyabo1191

I like how in this scene, and the film, Doom acts like a little devil on the shoulder to Johnny, Ben, and Sue in order to driver them apart and away from Reed.

@Bardim18

Chris Evans undoubtedly delivers a brilliant performance. It is baffling for fans to see a comically absurd Evans in Fantastic Four and then a no-nonsense righteous superhero in the MCU. Meanwhile, another big actor Michael B. Jordan failed to capture Johnny like Evans did. Joseph Quinn has big shoes to fill in the upcoming film The Fantastic Four.

Ahead of the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, rumors have been rampant that Chris Evans will make a return to the MCU. Interestingly, fans believe that he may not have to pick up his shield for this role alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Rumors from The GeekyCast hinted that the actor would play Human Torch once again in the film.

The rumors also suggested a team-up between Human Torch and Marvel characters like Wesley Snipes‘ Blade, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit. Their cameos wouldn’t possibly affect the future appearances of these characters, especially since Joseph Quinn and Mahershala Ali are tapped in to play Johnny Storm and Blade in the MCU.

Fans can confirm the cameos in a matter of hours as Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on Friday.
