Ahead of the release, Reynolds and Jackman have been entertaining fans with their humorous banter in various public outings as part of the promotions of the film. In their latest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Reynolds hilariously pulled Jackman’s leg by embarrassing him with a cringeworthy clip of his role in a 90s television show. The Marvel star sportingly played along by comparing his performance to that of Daniel Day-Lewis.
Hugh Jackman Cannot Live Down This Embarrassing Scene In a 90s Show
When it comes to versatility in performance, it is difficult to look past Hugh Jackman in Hollywood. Equally at ease in musicals as he is when doing hardcore action, the celebrity has proved that he can switch avatars seamlessly. His brilliant portrayal of Jean Valjean in 2012’s Les Misérables was proof that he was more than just a commercial superstar.

But like most stars’ trajectories, Jackman too has been part of some projects that he would look back on now and cringe. One of these was his small recurring role in the 1994 Australian series The Man From Snowy River. The show was released under the title Snowy River: The McGregor Saga in the USA and Britain.
This adventure drama saw the Real Steel star play a character named Duncan Jones, who appeared in a total of 5 episodes in 4 seasons of the show. While this may seem like an insignificant part, Jackman’s Marvel co-star Ryan Reynolds still managed to roast him with an embarrassing clip from the series during Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The scene showed the X-Men actor wordlessly looking into a mirror with a deadpan expression, with just his eyes blinking. While Reynolds jokingly commended Jackman on his brilliant acting prowess in the video, the Australian star sportingly played along and feigned disappointment when he said,
How, How did I lose the Oscar to Daniel Day-Lewis? I don’t know, I genuinely don’t know.
To put Jackman’s comment into context, the celebrity was nominated for Best Actor in the 2013 Oscars for his performance in Les Misérables along with Daniel Day-Lewis. The latter ultimately won the golden statuette for his commanding portrayal in Lincoln. Through this entertaining exchange, the star showed that he had the endearing ability to make fun of himself.
Huge Jackman Believed That Heath Ledger Would Make a Good Wolverine
Huge Jackman is well into his 3rd decade as Wolverine, and the actor is showing no signs of stopping. Over multiple films, the Logan star has proved that no one but him could have portrayed the mighty clawed mutant to perfection. With Deadpool and Wolverine hitting theaters this weekend, fans are eagerly awaiting Jackman’s bromance with Ryan Reynolds to take shape on screen.

In 2014, the celebrity sat down with his co-stars from X-Men: Days of Future Past James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender to discuss the X-Men franchise while promoting the film. In a Q&A session during their interview with Yahoo! Movies UK, Jackman was asked a hypothetical question about who he would envision playing Wolverine apart from him. The star was quick with his reply when he said,
Originally, when I played it – when he was alive, God rest his soul – I thought Heath Ledger could be a good young version of [Wolverine].
Earlier, there were rumors that Daniel Radcliffe could take over as Wolverine following Marvel’s alleged decision to cast a younger actor for the role. Radcliffe, though, summarily denied these claims in an interview with Variety.
Jackman was honest when he confessed that it would be strange to see someone else take on a role that he had played for so many years. But he believed that nothing can last forever and stated that he was mentally prepared to hand over the reins when the day arrived.
All 4 seasons of The Man From Snowy River can be streamed on Apple TV.
