The talks about One Piece live-action season 2 have consistently grown over the past few months since the announcement about the new members joining the cast. These talks have also roped in the major actors from the first season who contributed their best to make the series the first-ever successful anime live-action adaptation.
One such actor is Mackenyu Arata, who plays the role of Roronoa Zoro in the series. As One Piece fans know, Zoro is one of the most important characters in the series, and this is why fans have great expectations from Mackenyu for the second season. However, a previous project of Mackenyu has scared One Piece fans into thinking that he might ruin the role of Zoro in the upcoming season.
This project was called Knights of the Zodiac, and it was a horrible flop. And while some fans are scared about Mackenyu’s role in the second season, others have defended him and blamed the failure on other aspects of the film.
Mackenyu’s Knights of the Zodiac Has Scared Fans

The movie was a live-action adaptation of the immensely popular Japanese anime and manga series Saint Seiya, written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada.
According to The Numbers, despite having a budget of 70 million dollars, Knights of the Zodiac only grossed over 6.9 million dollars at the worldwide box office. The movie received negative reviews from the critics and the audience, especially from Saint Seiya fans. Mackenyu plays the role of the main character, Seiya, who is on a quest to search for his sister.
The movie had some of the biggest names backing it, and as it followed the plot of one of the best manga series of all time, fans had a lot of expectations with it. The movie also left hints of a sequel, but looking at the numbers, it is highly unlikely that the creators will work on the second part.
One Piece Fans Defend Mackenyu’s Role as Roronoa Zoro
Considering it was one of the first projects of Mackenyu as a protagonist, he was the one who received most of the hate. Viewers doubted his acting skills and even went on to say that although he had his luck with the first season of One Piece live-action, he would most likely drop the ball with the second season.
However, One Piece and Mackenyu fans defended the actor and have placed their full trust in his talent and his performance as Zoro.
While some blamed the script, others targeted the directors and showrunners who could not do a better job in adapting the movie.

Although the fear of the fans is somewhat justified, Mackenyu seems ready for the second season of One Piece live-action. He has started his preparations and considering the narrative that the series will follow, fans are expected to receive his best performance as Zoro in the second season of One Piece live-action.
