Ryan Reynolds is an expert when it comes to creative marketing tactics and the reason why his MCU entry, Deadpool & Wolverine, is as big as it is now is largely due to his efforts. From collaborating with the sensational K-pop group, Stray Kids, to using his clever wits to promote the film every chance he gets, it is no wonder the Hollywood star is a successful businessman as well.

However, his one idea, although absolutely brilliant, might not have worked well for his MCU entry with Hugh Jackman, given how important money is for superhero movies. Yet, fans cannot help but express that it was one hell of a great idea that somebody should try!

Ryan Reynolds, on top of being one of the most admired and followed men in the entertainment industry, is also a genius businessman. A savvy entrepreneur, the actor has made significant gains in the world of business through his many business ventures, not to mention his incredible feat with the Wrexham Football Club.

The actor yet again proved himself a marketing genius with the many promotional stints and marketing tactics his latest film, Deadpool & Wolverine employed. However, things could have been much different if Disney and Marvel Studios had actually agreed to use his one idea for the MCU flick, which would have been too brilliant if it hadn’t been for the money aspect of it.

In his latest interview with First We Feast’s Hot Ones, along with his co-star Hugh Jackman, Reynolds revealed,

The original idea with this movie was to shoot a fake movie, called Alpha Cop, that was intentionally bad… It was about two guys who are sharing one train, and together they make the ultimate cop. And the poster says ‘two cops, one brain, and all balls.’

While it does seem like a funny idea, the actor went on to reveal how the film would be Deadpool & Wolverine.

It was meant to be kind of horrible. And you know like 10 people in America would go to see this movie on opening weekend and 5 minutes into the movie, the Marvel logo would flip up and it would actually be Deadpool & Wolverine.

However, seeing how much of a problem it would have been to keep it a secret (given the many spoilers that already had leaked before Deadpool & Wolverine’s release), the idea was eventually sacked.

Furthermore, the financial challenges of making such a film and then keeping it a secret further made the team drop the idea. However, if they had made such a film, the draw of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in a movie together seems too great that even a terrible fake film like Alpha Cop would have received considerable clout.

Disguising what is potentially one of the greatest superhero movies ever to be made, into a film as hilarious and absurd as Alpha Cop would undoubtedly be equal to financial suicide, given the many financial risks associated with such a venture. Yet, many netizens and fans believe that it would have been one of the best surprises of all time.

After Reynolds’ revelation of Alpha Cop went viral, this is how many fans reacted on the internet:

Although it is hard to say how far of a success or failure such a movie would have been, it would certainly have been exciting to experience. As fans continue to debate about Reynolds’ Alpha Cop, Deadpool & Wolverine seems to be wreaking havoc on the box office with its incredible plot and the many cameos they have managed to keep a secret.
