The house was full of 6,500 people waiting to witness the highly anticipated R-rated Marvel film, and once the auditorium’s lights went down and the room turned into a cinema, everyone was holding onto their Wolverine-head popcorn buckets.
The film ran for 2 hours, with the guests cheering and applauding in every major scene. The loudest shouts were indeed during the surprise cameos. For months, fans have suspected many characters joining in the movie, but there were also some they did not anticipate. Warning: major cameo spoilers below.
When the movie wrapped up and the credits rolled in, the cast went back up the stage and introduced the cast of cameos. They celebrated the event together with Dafne Keen, Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Wesley Snipes, and Chris Evans (yes, even Deadpool was shocked when he said, “Flame on!”)
Deadpool & Wolverine Oozed With Surprise Cameos
The cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine were an ode to beloved Marvel characters that either have a connection to the titular heroes or those who needed redemption. More spoilers in the movie’s cameo scenes.
Everyone knows Dafne Keen played X-23 in Logan, the mutant kid that Wolverine saved. Wesley Snipes returned as Blade; he was Reynolds’ costar in Blade: Trinity. They notably had a controversial feud on set so it was a shocking surprise to see Snipes work with Reynolds again.
Jennifer Garner returned as Elektra, and she still carried her character with so much toughness. Despite her 2005 solo film flopping hard critically and commercially, the actress was praised for her performance. Channing Tatum finally wore his Gambit costume – and used a Cajun accent! The actor has been trying to make a live-action film for years but the project never got off the ground.
Of course, Chris Evans portraying Johnny Storm was the most shocking part. His scenes were more like comedic materials than a redemption arc. Nonetheless, it was great to see Evans again in a Marvel film.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now showing in theaters worldwide.
