Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine is now in theatres and people are going crazy at all the wild shenanigans the two characters go through. The film impressed most fans as it celebrates the Fox-era Marvel films, and the two superheroes meet various other characters from that era as they go on their multiversal adventure.
The studio and the cast shockingly managed to keep the wild cameos in the film under wraps. Wrexham A.F.C’s co-owner Rob McElhenney made a small cameo in the beginning portions of the film. However, his cameo was cut in a theatre that he watched and he hilariously called out his partner Reynolds for the blunder.
Rob McElhenney Laments His Cameo Being Cut In A Theatre Playing Deadpool & Wolverine
Deadpool & Wolverine featured the titular character going on a multiversal journey to save Deadpool’s universe from going extinct. Throughout their journey, they encounter various characters that help in their efforts. But before that, the film also featured various cameos in the first half of the film. However, fans might not have caught on to one hilarious cameo.
As Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is celebrating his birthday, some TVA Minuteman come to his door to apprehend him. One of them who Deadpool makes him fun of is a Minuteman played by Reynolds’ Wrexham A.F.C co-owner Rob McElhenney. It seems that his cameo was shockingly cut at a theater where he watched the film.
McElhenney expressed her disappointment at his cameo being cut as he had traveled 6000 miles to shoot it. He hilariously called out Reynolds while also stating that he wouldn’t have removed him from the film just like that. McElhenney plans to watch the film again to watch his cameo. The Wrexham A.F.C co-owner wrote on X:
I traveled 6 thousand miles to shoot my cameo. I hope you enjoyed it because the theater I was watching in had mistakenly cut it out. Since I KNOW Ryan wouldn’t do me like that, I look forward to catching the movie and my cameo again today! #DeadpoolandWolverine pic.twitter.com/0yhZqLuiLz

Reynolds and McElhenney have been close friends for a long time and their bond has been further strengthened by their collaborative efforts as co-owners of Wrexham A.F.C. Their show Welcome to Wrexham shows the hard work and perseverance in building the football club from scratch. The club was recently promoted to League One after beating Forest Green (via Fox Sports) in April of this year.
One Marvel Star Didn’t Believe His Cameo In Deadpool & Wolverine Was Going To Happen
Deadpool & Wolverine has many surprise cameos that added to the crazy multiversal adventure of the titular characters. One unexpected cameo was from Wesley Snipes’ Blade who joins Deadpool and Wolverine invade Cassandra Nova’s compound. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Snipes revealed that he did not believe that Ryan Reynolds and his team would be able to pull off his cameo.
However, Reynolds called him up one day and told him the idea of his appearance in the film. The Deadpool star told Snipes that if he is in, everyone is in, thus leading to his cameo to materialize. The Blade star said,
I did not think it was possible. I didn’t think we would be able to pull it off. I didn’t think that Marvel was into it. I thought it didn’t make sense to me, but [when] you get a call from Ryan Reynolds out of the blue after 20 years, you go, ‘Okay, I got to take this call. Let’s see what this is about’. He told me the idea… They said ‘yes’ and ‘it’s a go.’ ‘If you’re in, we’re in.’ Here we are.
Snipes did not lose his mojo and it was great seeing him back as the iconic character that he last played in 2004’s Blade Trinity. It was also a reunion between him and Reynolds who starred in the aforementioned film. Deadpool & Wolverine is playing in theatres worldwide.
