Ever since One Piece first began, Koby’s resolve as a character has been much about his growth and development as a Marine. He is a character who is strong in many ways yet still has a long way to go. His journey is one that has many fans rooting for him and all his achievements feel like stepping stones.

Koby’s loyalty to the Marines also makes for an interesting observation seeing how despite being on the other side of the fight, he still holds a soft spot for Luffy, even considering him a friend. Their relationship is both complicated and not at the same time. While they both are by default enemies, their personal feelings towards each other never make them hate each other.

One Piece’s Egghead Island Could End with a Big Bang

According to a theory on Reddit by @Nickmcadv, the Straw Hat Pirates could be dealing with something drastic nearing the end of the Egghead Island arc in One Piece. According to them, the World Government might soon be in shambles, being at the mercy of the Five Elders despite their allegiance being on the same side. The Gorosei are very secretive about their true forms and for those who would have witnessed it, it could easily put their lives in jeopardy.

While the Straw Hat Pirates and the giants may escape the place, it would leave the Vice Admirals and every other Marine in danger of destruction. While this could give rise to an entirely different era for the World Government and help with the rise of new Admirals, it could also have a massive impact on Koby.

An entire Buster Call fleet could be wiped out and annihilated in a matter of moments and the World Government would likely pin the blame on Luffy and his crew. While it would be a big feat for the Straw hat Pirates to survive an entire Buster Call and for it to be Nico Robin’s third, to Koby, it could change things drastically.

If the wrath on the World Government and the Marines does come into play, then there is a likely chance Vice Admirals like Garp and Doll might meet their end too. The denial and lack of accountability might be the last straw for Koby, who would notice just how messed up things are getting as the Straw Hat Pirates get blamed for a massive crime that had no part to play in.

Ever since the series first began, Koby’s loyalty to the Marines has been exceptionally persistent. His dream and dedication helped him become a captain of the Marines and earn the respect of many. Despite it all, his friendship with Luffy has also always been consistent. If things do go downhill, there is a strong chance that Koby begins to realize that he may be fighting on the wrong side.

As a result, he could either simply join the Straw Hat Pirates or perhaps even gather his own crew. It might be a complete flip to his character but at the same time it would maintain a sense of rebellion fans have been waiting to see from the character.

One Piece is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
