The actor, writer, director, and producer is known for writing some of the finest projects of all time, including his hit Paramount show, Yellowstone. Despite the acclaim he has received, Sheridan is also criticized for his representation of women, Indigenous people, and more.

Back some while ago in 2022, Kevin Costner came under fire thanks to his political views. The aftermath was such that even the devout Yellowstone base turned on him. In light of his lead star’s controversial stance, even the unabashed Sheridan, who does not seem to be deterred by criticism, was quick to dismiss his opinions on Donald Trump.

Taylor Sheridan, apart from being a successful writer, is also pretty vocal about the most contentious of topics and issues. Whether it is giving his controversial views on the issue of reservation (via The Guardian) or claiming that his film Wind River changed legislation pertaining to the abuse of Indians (via THR), he has caused ample amount of controversy with his views.

Back in 2017, Sheridan infamously made some cruel remarks about then-President Donald Trump in an interview, stating,

Can we just impeach that motherf**ker right now? Like what are we—I don’t understand … It’s just, it’s so embarrassing.

Despite often being undeterred, Sheridan later dismissed his comments in another controversial interview with The Atlantic, by claiming that he was tired and famished after endless press junkets.

I don’t recall that… I was mad about everything. Twelve-hour press junkets with no food or water will do that to you.

However, The Atlantic’s correspondent reckons it might have something to do with Yellowstone star Kevin Costner and his political views.

Did Taylor Sheridan Change His Stance on Donald Trump Due to Kevin Costner’s Controversy?

Taylor Sheridan might have dodged the question about his opinion of former US President Donald Trump, by claiming he said it at a time when he was burdened and famished after countless press interviews. However, his disregarding his earlier opinion might have been related to the controversy his Yellowstone star stirred up with his political opinions.

Back in 2022, Kevin Costner was spotted wearing an I’M FOR LIZ CHENEY when the Republican voiced her opinion over Trump, the Capitol attacks, and more (via USA Today). This led to significant backlash from the Make America Great Again fans, who were quick to call him out.

Subsequently, the actor was labeled as a fake cowboy, a hypocrite, an elitist, and more (via The Atlantic). Even the Yellowstone fan base did not spare him and called him out for his views. In the midst of all this, it is understandable, if, such a controversy caused Sheridan to backtrack on his views. After all, even a show like Yellowstone would have had much to lose if its creator had kicked off another wave of backlash when the storm surrounding its lead star’s political views was still to settle down.
