While his love for motorcycles is unconditional, the hobby has sometimes proved dangerous to the John Wick star. Recounting a near-fatal accident in 1988 where he lay bleeding on the floor for half an hour, Reeves told Esquire,

It’s the physical sensation of riding, the wind, the smell, the sights, the connection to the machine, the living-in-nature. It demands a kind of attention and presentness. It’s also good to go out and think a little bit, so you can get lost in the now. Or you can also kind of reflect. You’re moving on the surface of the planet.

The actor has also mentioned that he credited his love for motorcycles to his exposure to motorcycle gangs in Toronto.
