Besides its merciless violence and a disappointing series finale, Game of Thrones is also widely renowned for its boldness. To bring some of the hottest scenes in television, the HBO show did not compromise on getting some of the most attractive actresses on board. From Emilia Clarke and Sophie Turner to Lena Headey, numerous beauties worked on the show. However, it looks like nobody among them was as pleased with their role as Natalie Dormer.

Game of Thrones kicked off as one of the greatest TV shows. But sadly, after 6 successful seasons, the last 2 seasons went drastically downhill with one of the most debatable conclusions. Natalie Dormer felt very happy how she was involved with the show in its prime and had an exit at the perfect time before its downfall.

What did Natalie Dormer think about her Game of Thrones role?

Natalie Dormer‘s Margaery Tyrell was introduced in the GoT, inspired by George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novel series, in the second season. Often regarded as one of the sexiest characters in the series, Margaery Tyrell became a significant figure in the saga until she ultimately faced her sudden demise in the Season 6 finale, The Winds of Winter.

In an old interview with Variety, Natalie Dormer stated that she was insanely happy to have “the perfect length of time” with Game of Thrones. It was a full circle moment for her as she started watching the show as a fan, got the golden chance to join the show’s second season, had a (literally) explosive ending for her character in Season 6, and watched the finale again as a fan.

I got the golden ticket, the perfect length of time. I watched season 1 as a fan, came in the second season, did a good solid five years just as the show had this incredible explosion, and then I got out in time to watch the end and sit on the couch again

The Hunger Games actress looked delighted how she had to not be a part of the underwhelming series finale. According to Natalie Dormer, she was mentally prepared for the ending of her character as she got to know about her fate a long time before it was filmed. Interestingly, the actress, who also contributed to The Tudors stated that the backlash to the show was inevitable.

The actress who was a part of some steamy scenes in the show admitted that she already predicted the harsh backlash to the Season 8 ending. Natalie Dormer proved to be a beauty with brains as she expected that the makers would definitely struggle to wrap the show due to the insane amount of storylines and characters.

The presently 42-year-old actress asserted that Dan Weiss and David Benioff, often criticized by the fans for ruining the finale, had a near to impossible task of crafting a universally appealing conclusion. She added that they started well from Season 6 only but as she expected, it was almost impossible to satisfy everyone.

I think [creators] Dan [Weiss] and David [Benioff] had an almost impossible task in wrapping up the show. And by the very nature of the sheer quantity of storylines and characters, they had to start wrapping up around season 6, which they did with the Tyrells and other beloved characters. It was almost going to be an impossible task, I think, regardless of what they had done, to satisfy a third act for everyone in the time that they had.

Earlier, Emilia Clarke also had similar thoughts and believed that the show could be a little longer for the story to develop better. Many fans also felt that the conclusion failed badly while trying to wrap up everything within 6 episodes. Fortunately, despite its bad ending, the show did manage to attract fans to the prequel series House of the Dragon.

Both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon can be streamed on Max.
