Carrie Fisher Admitted She Did Not Get Along With One Star Wars Director

During an interview with The Daily Beast, Fisher addressed some of the rumors about her work on the franchise. At the same time, Fisher admitted that she had a terrible experience working with director Richard Marquand on Return of the Jedi.

He yelled at me one day, and I burst into tears.

Fisher explained that Marquand would constantly yell at her, leading to one occasion when she ruined her makeup because she started crying. The actress added:

It took an hour for them to do my makeup again.

From Fisher’s words, it is evident that working with Marquand wasn’t exactly a pleasant experience for her.

After directing the first installment, Lucas handed over the reins to other directors for the latter two installments in the original trilogy. It has also been rumored that Lucas ghost-directed Return of the Jedi, hinting that the cast might have had issues with Marquand.

Carrie Fisher Revealed Why She Wanted to Kill Jabba the Hutt

During the same interview, Fisher also spoke about having to wear the iconic bikini while Princess Leia was held captive by Jabba the Hutt. Fisher admitted that while she was concerned about the bikini’s practicality, she went ahead with the costume.

They asked me if I wanted my stunt double to kill him, but I wanted to.

Fisher’s comments confirm that she did not like Jabba making her character wear the skimpy outfit, despite the bikini attaining pop culture reverence in the later years.

As a result, it is understandable why Fisher wanted to personally kill Jabba the Hutt, while also highlighting how the moment made Leia a role model. Fisher also said that seeing photos of herself in the bikini made her feel good even after so many years.

The Star Wars movies are streaming on Disney+.
