Embracing his penchant for complex characters, the 59-year-old Oscar winner is set to embrace a “new mask” for the same task, declaring his sensational return as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027). To quote Downey Jr.:
New mask, same task. What did I tell ya? I like playing complicated characters.
So, what does this mean for Downey Jr. and his future in the MCU? It appears that he has exchanged his Iron Man armor for a set of metal gauntlets for his new role as Doctor Doom.
