Ryan Reynolds has finally delivered his much-awaited Deadpool & Wolverine, and the results have been nothing short of what fans had been promised all along. Besides all the profanity spilling from Wade’s mouth like he knows nothing else (he doesn’t) and the action-packed sequences, the film also added something really interesting: The merc with a mouth delivering a dance performance.

This iconic dancing gig was done on the viral boy band NSNYC‘s smash-hit song Bye Bye Bye from their album from 2000, No Strings Attached. But while it made its way to the screens only recently, it seems like Reynolds had already had it all planned in that genius brain of his from around six years ago, back when his 2018 R-rated action/comedy Deadpool 2 was in the making!

Ryan Reynolds Planned the NSYNC x Deadpool & Wolverine Collab 6 Years Ago?

In the opening scene of his recently released masterpiece, Ryan Reynolds‘ mutant anti-hero gave fans something so unexpected but extraordinarily perfect that they were immediately glad that this movie was made: Wade Wilson, completely dressed in his red suit, dancing to NSNYC‘s chart-topper Bye Bye Bye from 2000.

However, as unexpected as this entire dance-performance-featuring-opening-scene was, looking back now, it seems like Reynolds actually had this entire collaboration planned right from the beginning. And by “right from the beginning, we mean the time when the second installment in this anti-hero’s film series was still in the making in 2018.

This is evident from the official music video for Celine Dion‘s Ashes from the same year, where the merc with a mouth was seen gracefully strutting on the stage before delivering a complete dance performance in high heels as the singer sang in the background. Then came the end of this music video, which was the most interesting part of this mystery.

After Dion finishes singing, Wade is seen shouting in the music video (via Celine Dion on YouTube): “Celine! That was amazing! That was the most beautiful performance I’ve ever seen in my life!” To this, Dion goes on to candidly thank Wade for his compliment, but the mutant cuts her midway, saying, “No, thank you! We need to do it again.”

Obviously confused, Dion asks him, “Okay, why?” To this, Reynolds’ Wade responds, “Well, it’s too good. Yeah, this is Deadpool 2, not Titanic, alright? You’re, like, an 11. We need to get you down to a 5, 5 and a half tops, just phone it in.” This earns him an annoyed reaction from Dion, who says, “Listen, this thing only goes to 11. So, beat it, Spider-Man.”

Ouch, that must have hurt. But what came next is the proof that Reynolds is just a bit too much of a genius who seemingly always planned to have a collaboration with Justin Timberlake‘s boy band. This is because, reacting to Dion’s comment, Wade can be heard clearly whispering under his breath, “God, I should have asked NSYNC.”

So this was his plan all along? Have his mutant hero first sashay along to Dion’s Ashes in the second installment of his film series before jumping on to the American vocal group for a song that better suited his needs, and have it included in his next movie, i.e. Deadpool & Wolverine? Well, so it seems, and fans just couldn’t be more impressed by it all.
