The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for transforming actors into blockbuster stars. One of the most notable examples of this is Chris Hemsworth, who became a household name after being cast as Thor. The actor’s portrayal of the Norse God of Thunder earned him millions of fans globally but also cemented his place as a leading man in the industry.

During his stint, he developed a strong and enriching friendship with fellow MCU actor Chris Evans, who portrayed Captain America. But this bond created some troubles and complications for the studio, which then decided to separate them for giving interviews together during 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Fans Can’t Forgive Kevin Feige for Separating Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans

Chris Hemsworth has been part of the MCU for quite a while now. Further, it’s only natural for the star to consider his co-stars as friends. While in an interview with Variety, he mentioned that he considers Robert Downey Jr. a mentor. He also added that he has a great friendly bond with Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, and Jeremy Renner. But for Chris Evans, he added that the duo shares a brotherly bond.

For why the actors were separated during the press tour of Avengers: Endgame, he recalled that they were just joking and screwing around all the time. Further, none of the things they were saying or doing on the tour were on topic (making it difficult to conduct a serious interview). Pubity raised a similar question on Instagram with a snippet of Evans and Hemsworth messing around during the press tour.

The fans, on the other hand, were not happy with Kevin Feige’s decision to separate the duo, with one even commenting:

This is a terrible idea. Them goofing around would make for GREAT marketing and meme content. It’s not rocket science.

In the same article, Variety also noted that when Chris Evans was interviewed later, he confirmed that the duo was separated as they “weren’t getting s**t done.” Chris Evans also pitched in a movie idea with Hemsworth and added that he would “love to do one of those 80s buddy comedies” with the actor. This idea would surely get a thumbs up from the fans as well, who missed the opportunity of witnessing the actor’s friendly banter on the press tour.

How Chris Hemsworth Helped Chris Evans With His ‘Avengers’ Anxiety

Chris Evans has been quite vocal about the anxiety he felt while playing Captain America. But in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he detailed how having Hemsworth around eased up some of that pressure. He added:

It was nice having Chris Hemsworth around because he was going through it, too. (Evans continued) I mean, at the time Downey’s Downey and Scarlett’s Scarlett [Johansson]. And [Mark] Ruffalo and [Jeremy] Renner, at the time, were crushing it, too. Hemsworth and I were very new and we also had the standalones and so I think we shared in our anxiety, and at least that made it a little bit more comforting.

The actor added that the mutual challenges that they faced while playing their specific roles allowed them to support each other throughout the filming. On the topic of his anxiety, Evans explained that it was specifically intense during the filming of 2010’s Puncture. Further, the severity of the issue was so grave that he had almost turned down his iconic role as Steve Rogers.

But despite these challenges, the actor managed to work through them and played the role of Captain America to the core.
