SUMMARY

  • Assassin's Creed has managed to deliver a lot of hits in the past, but not every game from the franchise has managed to stand out.
  • Some of the games in the franchise are really not up to par when compared to some of the other classics in the franchise.
  • However, this list is meant to be speculative and not an absolute account of what the best and worst games are.

Assassin’s Creed was first released in 2007. It immediately became a people’s favorite in the following years with multiple releases, venturing into various worlds to explore and give us a taste of different cultures.

Needless to say, not every Assassin’s Creed game has managed to deliver what is usually expected out of it. To make things further interesting, here is a list of every Assassin’s Creed game ranked from worst to best, according to me.

Please note that this is a speculative list and just one man’s opinion. By no means does it claim to be an objective statement stating facts.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations was the fourth major addition to the franchise, released in 2011 following Assassin’s Creed 2 and Brotherhood, both of which were absolute treats. Revelations failed to meet the expectations of players at the time, especially because it was succeeding two very successful games from the franchise. Some people also believe that the franchise’s downfall began with this game.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was a hit and a miss. The game did not receive any recognition whatsoever, apart from a little cult following in the years following its release. The game failed to deliver anything new and became one of the worst games in the franchise.

Even with its fun and chaotic setting that allowed players to explore London and its grimy past, players were still underwhelmed by its delivery and expected more from a game that allowed you to create a gang and own the streets of London.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was a unique game for sure and had an amazing open world to explore within a very culturally rich environment. However, in its pursuit to try something new with the game, it steered away from the soul of what Assassin’s Creed games are known for, and that is largely the reason why it did not appeal to a lot of people.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the latest addition to the game, which is scheduled to be released in the latter half of 2024. However, the game is not yet released and has still managed to make its way into this list. It is largely due to the promise the new game shows.

The latest title is set in feudal Japan, which has never been seen before in any Assassin’s Creed game ever, and allows players to play with two different characters, each with their own unique set of abilities and backstory.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is the 10th addition to the franchise, which came out in 2017, succeeding 2015’s title, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Origins was a stand-alone game set amidst the deserts and pyramids of a fictional Egyptian town. It was also a fresh game that breathed life into the franchise again after some disappointing games that came out before it.

Origins made good use of the open world and provided players with a beautiful world, which justified the parkouring ability of the main character in the game, which is one of the most fun aspects of the game.

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood

Brotherhood was the third major addition to the game’s arsenal and was one of the most fresh games to hit the market in 2010. It managed to deliver a game from the stealth genre in a never-seen-before light, with the most gripping storyline that further added to the appeal of the game.

It was one of the best games to have come out in 2010. This game’s depiction of colonial America was also something that had never been seen before and it will always hold a special place in people’s hearts for years to come.
