It’s no secret that fans have been eagerly waiting for an Elden Ring sequel but as of now, FromSoftware and Miyazaki have no plans for it but it is to be noted that Miyazaki has stated that this is not the end of the Elden Ring saga, so fans can hope to see a potential spin-off in the future.

I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example- but I don’t think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that’s where a very strong partner would come into play. We’d have to build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever it is we’re trying to achieve, but there’s interest, for sure.

Miyazaki made it clear that FromSoftware is interested in working with another production company to create another interpretation of the Elden Ring franchise, leaving the possibility of a spin-off in the future.

It’s no secret how popular the franchise is and even in the financial aspect, a spin-off would benefit FromSoftware significantly but this would only be possible if they find a strong partner that doesn’t butcher the franchise.

The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was massive, adding a lot of new content to the game but many players are now wondering what’s next for the Elden Ring franchise. One would obviously expect more content from Miyazaki but it seems like there’s nothing in development.

At the IGN Fan Fest 2024, Miyazaki spoke to IGN and stated that he doesn’t want to reduce the possibility of expanding the Elden Ring by claiming that it is the end, however, he also revealed that there are no plans for a sequel or another DLC as of now:

We don’t want to say this is the end of the Elden Ring saga for now – I think we said a similar thing at the end of Dark Souls 3. We didn’t want to flatten those possibilities or put a pin in them just at that time… We don’t have any current plans to make a second DLC or a sequel, but we definitely don’t want to snuff out that possibility. We think that there could well be something the future.

It’s hard to tell if fans will get to see a sequel or a spin-off in the future, but one can definitely expect more games from Miyazaki as he has confirmed in the past that Elden Ring was a “turning point” and players can expect bigger and better projects in the future.
