Marvel Rivals is an upcoming online multiplayer video game from NetEase Games featuring iconic heroes and villains of the Marvel brand. The gaming community is accustomed to competitive gaming and the developers applied a similar structure that showcases the unique abilities of every character.
The exciting part of game development is that the developers can take from the source material and adapt it into something better to appeal to modern audiences. Early promos of the upcoming game did not shy away from the multiverse concept and are generating more hype for future stories and events.
Marvel Rivals Is Giving the Fans a Glimpse of What Is to Come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
NetEase Games has worked on multiple online multiplayer games in the past and is more than qualified to deliver a satisfying superhero experience. The developers hosted a close beta testing for a handful of players and this experience shed some light on areas that needed more polishing like overpowered characters in Marvel Rivals.
There is no official release date for the full game which can buy the developers enough time to work on balancing and scaling. Another area that attracted the gaming community is the narrative based on the animated trailers that indicate two different versions, or variants, of Victor von Doom will come into play and start an incursion.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been tackling the Multiverse since it was opened after Avengers: Endgame and fleshed out in Loki. The idea of a connected multiverse to tether everything together is a smart move to unite the brand and allow creatives from different mediums to create their original stories through gaming giving them a head start.

The gaming community has high hopes for this multiplayer project and expectations are significantly higher after Doom’s involvement. The game could potentially adapt Secret Wars, one of the biggest comic book stories, and bring together a universe full of heroes fighting one massive threat.

Fans were impressed with the art style the developers used in the game. The gaming division also unveiled a new logo which will likely be featured in the introduction upon start-up.

The gaming community is curious about Doom’s motives and how it will rock the multiverse. Multiple variants interacting with one another will likely throw the multiverse out of balance and cascade into chaos.
The developers recently unveiled a first look at the iconic supervillain during San Diego Comic-Con and fans were blown away by his menacing appearance. Perhaps the various designs will allow players to determine which variant to root for.
Secret Wars Will Adapted Into a Live-Action Film and in a Video Game Through Marvel Rivals
The developers could incorporate original storylines while making something original. The beauty of comic books is that the story arcs are generally intertwined and the characters will be forced to make difficult decisions.
The game industry is catching up with major Hollywood blockbusters and this project gave NetEase a headstart. There is no telling where the story will take the players, nevertheless, it is exhilarating to see multiple versions of one villain fighting for supremacy.
The premise of Marvel Rivals allows NetEase to continually release new skins, new versions, and variants of the same characters for months and years to come, and that, as with the MCU right now, plays right into the Multiverse premise too.
Fans will have to wait a few years before the films. The game will scratch the itch until then. but in what way do we see the multiverse shenanigans of the two franchises crossover? No one knows, not yet.
