The update affects the Spiderbot, a robotic device designed to stun and damage enemies, it is a popular tool within the game. Now, with the update live, some players love the change, while some are forced to learn new ways to play the game.

Spiderbot Receives Cooldown Nerf

The latest XDefiant update went live on July 30 and it has unexpectedly increased the cooldown timer for the Spiderbot from 25 to 35 seconds. This change was initially mentioned in the Y1S1.0 patch notes for July 1 but was only now implemented. Moreover, the said patch notes claimed 40 seconds cooldown.

The robot, which stuns and damages enemies by jumping on their faces, has been a favorite among players. The extended cooldown means it will be less frequently available during matches. This will force players to change their strategy and learn new ways to play the arena shooter.

On the other hand, players who face this robot will certainly enjoy fewer attempts for a spider-like robot jumping on their faces. While it can be easily destroyed with an EMP Grenade or simply shot at, the robot is a pesky sidekick in this Call of Duty Killer.

Fans are Divided with Ubisoft’s Take On the Change

The change to the bot has taken many players by surprise, forcing them to adjust to the new meta. Players who disliked the robot are pleased with the update, as it reduces the number of encounters. However, the need to adapt has left some players frustrated more than ever before with the game.

One player simply said thank god, which highlights the overall sentiment behind the reduced robot use.

Another player suggested that the hack ability should be buffed to a 10-second cooldown after a successful hack, as it currently offers no major advantage. They added that the increased cooldown for the robot is over the top for solo players who rely on it in 2v1 situations.

Another player remarked that the French developer might be following the Helldivers 2 developers’ playbook by implementing changes quietly and letting players discover them.

Nevertheless, the community continues to be divided as players who use the robot and those who deal with the enemy are saying different things.

However, the overall change feels like a buff. Will the developer add more changes left to be discovered by players remains to be seen?
