Evans was last seen portraying Captain America in the MCU in the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame as his on-screen character retired. However, things aren’t as easy as they seem. Ryan Reynolds and Evans seem to go a long way back!
Chris Evans And Ryan Reynolds Go a Long Way Back
The recently released MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine is simply iconic and what’s even more breathtaking is that Chris Evans returns to the folds of the MCU once again.

Not as Captain America, of course. Evans reprises his role of the Human Torch from the 2005 film Fantastic Four. With his iconic dialogue and yelling “Flame On!”, Evans flies into the sky and gives us one of the greatest cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Despite the iconic cameos and quirky references, one Chris Evans cameo still remains on top. No, we’re not talking about Deadpool & Wolverine (this time) but another Ryan Reynolds movie that had a cameo from Chris Evans too.
See, we told you. Ryan Reynolds and Chris Evans go a long way back.
When Chris Evans And Ryan Reynolds Joined Hands
Back in 2021, the world was greeted by one of the best Ryan Reynolds films titled Free Guy. With director Shawn Levy helming the project, the world loved the absurd comedy and tons of references that the movie had in store.

In the film, Reynolds’ character is seen fighting Dude, a bulky guy with the face of Ryan Reynolds. When Dude goes to punch Guy, he puts on his glasses and picks out ‘Shield’. Captain America’s shield comes flying into Guy’s hands as Dude is about to punch him.
The theme song from The Avengers is heard in the background and we see a quick cameo of Chris Evans playing the game and saying “What the sh*t?”. Fans think that this is the best cameo by Evans ever.
With a plethora of references and one iconic cameo from Chris Evans, Free Guy went on to earn a total of $331 million (via IMDB). The movie received a rating of 7.1/10 on IMDB and a whopping 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.
On the other hand, Deadpool & Wolverine currently stands at a rating of 8.2/10 on IMDB and a high of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2024 MCU film is currently screening in theaters across the world.
