When Eiichiro Oda came up with One Piece in 1995 and its anime adaptation in 1999, fans were unsure about the adventure that the mangaka was going to take them on. Fast forward to 2024, and Oda-Sensei’s Shonen series is considered to be the greatest piece of work that is not showing signs of fatigue.

A common misconception revolving around the title is that it’s all optimistic and about a young pirate boy trying to find some treasure. However, when they start watching it, they realize that the entire plot is full of mysteries. One of the darkest and probably the most unhinged theories revolves around Blackbeard, who can use the ability of two Devil Fruits.

Though fans have come up with several theories, they have been waiting for the mangaka to answer the creepiest and most sought-after answer centered around the Yonko.

Eiichiro Oda is Yet To Answer The Dark Speculations about Blackbeard’s Devil Fruit Abilities

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has continued to elude its fans for 29 years. During this period, the manga and anime introduced a vast array of characters, but none of them gained notoriety like Blackbeard. He sent shockwaves around the One Piece community when he entered Marineford to steal Whitebeard’s devil fruit, Gura Gura no Mi.

Following this incident, several theories emerged, which include him potentially having multiple personalities or a different body type that allows him to use multiple abilities. Since the character has become so mysterious, Ohara, an anime enthusiast, addressed the taboo that follows Marshall D. Teach and how he could steal the Devil Fruit abilities of other users.

The YouTuber mentioned that there’s an idea that has been circulating around the internet for quite some time, and the best way to put it is “bloody raw!” He emphasized the idea of the antagonist potentially being a “cannibal!” To further emphasize his theory, he talks about the Marineford incident, where he covered Whitebeard with a blanket, and “after some weird noises and moving around, he suddenly had had his Devil Fruit.”

As fans know, the base rule in OP is that each person can only have one Devil Fruit. However, this regulation does not apply to the Emperor of the Sea because, as it has been said in Chapter 1107, St. Saturn mentioned that “Blackbeard’s lineage is actually special.”

Since we don’t know “exactly what happened under the cloth,” or if he has a special body type, or “if he had to eat Whitebeard’s heart before he actually died.” Furthermore, it has been known that Blackbeard modeled himself after Rocks D. Xebec, who is linked to various taboos, and cannibalism is what made Xebec more notorious than everyone else.

The idea was reinforced when the fan stated that something similar happened with Big Mom, who clearly ate Mother Caramel and has gained her abilities. Though it was never shown on the “screen or in the manga, it’s kind of just implied.”

Hence, the same would be the case when the mangaka decided to throw a sheet because “maybe our man, Oda, just has his limits somewhere,” where he can talk about evil things but can’t showcase them. Surprisingly, that’s not all, because Marshal D. Teach is embodying himself to fulfill the aim of his idol.

Blackbeard Might Be Fulfilling Rocks D. Xebec’s Goal

In chapter 1107, Van Augur and Catarina Devon were dispatched to Egghead Island to complete a task. Later in the chapter, it was shown that Devon touched one of Saturn’s limbs and claimed that their work there was done.

This gave a significant upgrade to the pirate crew. However, when Saturn emerged from the debris, he noticed the two characters and wondered what the ultimate goal of the Impel Down escapees was. Van Augur replied to the question with the words “The World.”

The simple phrase had sent a shockwave around the community because his goal was ultimately connected to Rocks D. Xebec, one of the most notorious criminals in the past, who wanted to rule over the world but failed.

One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
