A lot of rumors have been circulating about the MCU in the wake of all the announcements that were made at Comic-Con. The negative perception of the MCU, which persists even after the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, has got a lot of people believing that the MCU might be ready to close its doors for good after Avengers: Secret Wars.

However, a particular Reddit post believes that the MCU just has too much story left to finish to end at Secret Wars. Given that Marvel is rolling back a lot of its content to focus on quality over quantity, it might be a while before the MCU can satisfactorily resolve all the arcs it’s put into motion.
The solution that this particular Redditor has come up with might benefit the MCU in the short term while allowing the mainstream audience and even the creatives at the company to take a breather.
Marvel could focus on ending its stories post-Secret Wars but without an overarching saga as the backdrop

There are a lot of stories that seem to be in development over at Marvel Studios, and it is a given that not all of them are going to be able to resolve their storylines before Secret Wars rolls around.
Therefore, Marvel would benefit from continuing their stories after Secret Wars but keeping them distinct from any larger story. This could also work for other characters who do get their stories resolved with Secret Wars but could benefit from self-contained narratives. This is suggested by Reddit user u/IAmTheGlazed:
There have been a lot of comments that agreed with the original post, talking about how the MCU is not throwing in the towel anytime soon.
George R.R. Martin once said that in Hollywood, nothing is truly ever ‘dead’ for good. Studios put franchises on ice all the time when they do not make money. However, these franchises are often given a second chance after a significant amount of time has passed. So fans can rest assured that, if against all odds, the MCU does die after Secret Wars, it won’t be for long.
Avengers: Secret Wars might just reorganize the MCU, making all the unfinished stories irrelevant.

A lot of rumors have been circulating that the MCU will be going through a soft reboot in the wake of Avengers: Secret Wars. If this is the case indeed, all the plotlines that remain unresolved from before might not come to fruition.
The MCU has left a few plot lines dangling over the years that never got a resolution, such as Bruce and Natasha’s romance, Betty Ross and Bruce’s storyline (the man loved two women and told them he couldn’t have kids, then had a kid with a third woman on an alien planet), Scorpion from Spider-Man: No Way Home, Baron Mordo (no, the explanation from Multiverse of Madness was not enough), and Tony Stark’s clean energy initiative for the world, just to name a few.
It won’t be a surprise if Secret Wars closes out without the films or even the upcoming shows resolving the storylines that have been left dangling.
Avengers: Secret Wars lands in theatres on May 7th, 2027.
