This news thrilled fans, but the biggest question on literally everyone’s mind was whether Arnold would come back to voice the character. Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon addressed this question during an interview with ComicBook at SDCC, but his answer was uncertain, playing a little coy.

Boon explained that while the idea is exciting, it’s complicated. He shared:

I don’t know yet, we couldn’t get him to do Terminator, and that was always a challenge. But there’s so many variables and we’re in constant discussions with them about ‘Can we do this? Can we meet him here?’ Because it’s a good amount of lines that you have to record, so… fingers crossed.

Whether it’s due to scheduling reasons, or rather budget issues, things can’t be confirmed as of yet. Given that he didn’t return to voice Terminator in the last installment, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too much.

In the past, Homelander, another character in the game’s first DLC, was not voiced by Anthony Starr, who portrays him in The Boys. This decision contrasts with the casting choices for Peacemaker and Omni-Man, who are voiced by their respective actors, John Cena and J. K. Simmons.

This was another baffling decision, the reason for which still hasn’t been explicitly shared, especially since Anthony Starr would realistically cost a lot less than the other two megastars.

The Mortal Kombat 1 DLC also includes two intriguing crossover fighters from popular films – Ghost Face from Scream, and T-1000 from Terminator. Robert Patrick is set to reprise his role as T-1000, once again lending his iconic voice to the character.

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have been on a roll, unveiling a plethora of information about the upcoming content for the game. The new expansion, Khaos Reigns, is set to launch this Fall, bringing a lot of new features and characters for fans to play with and dive into, including a mini-campaign.

The expansion will be released on September 24, 2024, and will include new story chapters and Kombat Pack 2. Interestingly, Kombat Pack 2 won’t be available as a standalone DLC, like usual.

Instead, players will need to purchase the expansion to access it. Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot will be available right at launch, while Ghostface, T-1000, and Conan will be released later on.
