It seems things are finally looking up for Starfield after a tumultuous first year, as the game approaches the release of its highly anticipated DLC. There is a rising optimism regarding the game content, as Bethesda is actively working to improve the players’ experience. However, the increasing popularity of another Bethesda franchise might prove detrimental to Starfield‘s success.
Fallout has always been a fan-favorite franchise from Bethesda; however, there has been a surge in popularity for several reasons. While this seems fantastic for Bethesda, it might lead to it focusing on Fallout more, leaving Starfield behind.
Could Starfield Suffer Due to Fallout’s Rising Popularity?
Starfield’s success might not have come immediately, but the game has continued to build its presence over time. Despite early criticism, Bethesda has proactively addressed player feedback and implemented updates to improve the game’s overall experience.
Interestingly, Fallout is seeing a resurgence in popularity, particularly due to the series based on the franchise. Furthermore, Fallout 4 still boasts a huge player base despite the game being almost a decade old. The immense mod support definitely plays a significant role in keeping it relevant as well.
I am worried about the future of Starfield
byu/Bolkenkaefer inStarfield
Reddit user u/Bolkenkaefer has expressed concern that Fallout being at the center of attention could spell bad news for Starfield. According to the user, the developer might put the space-oriented game in the backseat and devote its resources to progressing Fallout further.
Although this is not a far-fetched opinion, it’s worth pointing out that Bethesda is far from giving up when it comes to Starfield. The Shattered Space DLC is on the horizon, and fans even got some leaks regarding additional content for the game for 2025. So, it’s fair to say Bethesda has plans laid out for the foreseeable future.
The Starfield: Shattered Space Release Date Has Apparently Leaked
Fortunately for Starfield fans, the next phase of the game is close, as a new leak suggests the Shattered Space DLC will be released in September. According to the leak, a trailer for the expansion will also drop on August 20.
If anyone is wondering what the DLC will include, it will revolve around the House Va’ruun faction. The clan was the least explored in the base game, so we will get to see it explored fully this time around. This is also going to invite new troubles for the players, as they will likely face the wrath of a powerful cult.
A new trademark was also recently registered, suggesting that Bethesda is not stopping with the next DLC and will see another one in 2025. The project is labelled “Starborn,” but no information is out yet, so fans will have to wait for Bethesda to officially reveal more details.
