While there are many to boast of, Snyder recently revealed what his favorite scene to shoot in the latest Rebel Moon films was. Zack Snyder is one of the most fascinating directors in Hollywood right now. While his films are blockbuster-scale action epics, they get an extremely divisive response, and each project’s acclaim differs. After hitting it out of the park with Army of the Dead, Snyder came back with the negatively received space opera Rebel Moon.

The two-part saga saw a Star Wars-inspired story of rebels who go against an intergalactic empire after their home world is threatened. Released on Netflix last year, the films gained the top spot on the platform’s Top 10 for weeks but were not well received by critics. Snyder released an R-rated director’s cut of both the films on August 2.

In an interview with The Hollywood Handle, Snyder spoke about multiple details in the sci-fi film series and the upcoming projects in the franchise. Responding to a fan question about his favorite scene to shoot in Rebel Moon, he said,

Kora fighting the guys in the barn, killing all the Imperial guys in the barn. That felt old school. It was like old school fighting and shooting and really just going, you know, shot to shot, and really telling that story was really fun. And I can’t wait for you to see the R-rated version of it.

The scene in question sees Kora, played by Sofia Boutella, barge into a barn where a group of Imperial soldiers are holding a few villagers hostage. Many fans criticized the scene for its overuse of slow motion and lack of blood.

While films like Dawn of the Dead and 300 put Zack Snyder on the map, it was 2009’s Watchmen that made the filmmaker get into hardcore comic book films. An adaptation of Alan Moore’s graphic novel of the same name, the superhero film saw many traces of what would be the director’s trademark style in treating larger-than-life heroes.

While the film has plenty of memorable sequences, including the beautiful opening montage set to Bob Dylan’s The Times They Are a-Changin, Snyder reportedly has a favorite that claims the top spot in his entire filmography. The filmmaker said to The Hollywood Handle,

I would say one of my favorite sequences is the birth of Dr Manhattan, that is probably one of my favorite sequences in my movies.

The almost ten-minute sequence sees Billy Crudup’s Dr. Manhattan narrate and contemplate about the origin of his existence from meeting the love of his life Janey Slater to his eventual disappointment with the human race.
