In 2019, Marvel decided to collaborate with Shonen Jump+ and release seven one-shots, each of which is written and illustrated by different manga artists. These collaborations featured many Marvel Superheroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk, etc. One of these collaborations included the famous Deadpool and his trip to Japan.

During his trip, Deadpool met My Hero Academia’s All Might and decided to team up with him to defeat one of the most terrifying Marvel villains. This was one of the best-written narratives of the Deadpool: Samurai manga series by Sanshirō Kasama and Hikaru Uesugi, as it featured the two most opposite Superheroes from totally different universes in the same setting.

Deadpool’s Trip To The Manga World

Marvel’s collaboration with Shonen Jump+ might have given some of the greatest stories of all time, but none of them are as weird and funny as Deadpool: Samurai. The Merc with the Mouth, known for breaking the fourth wall in Marvel comics and movies, finally gets a chance to showcase his unique talents in Japanese manga style, and he does not disappoint.

The outlandish Superhero joins the Samurai Squad, which is the Japanese offshoot of the Avengers. He is offered this role by Iron Man himself and thus begins his adventures within the land of samurais and ninjas. He joins the team of a Spider-Man stand-in called Sakura Spider and a Venom-type symbiote called Neiro.

Deadpool: Samurai is one of the greatest one-shots within the collaboration, and it is deemed Marvel’s most-read book of 2021 as it climbed high on Shonen Jump+ lists. The series has a lot of fourth-wall-breaking references from the manga industry, including characters, publishing houses, manga creators, anime series, etc.

Deadpool Met Japan’s No. 1 Hero From My Hero Academia

In Chapter 9 of Deadpool: Samurai Volume 1, where the superhero and his Samurai Squad are seen battling the great Thanos, an unexpected character makes an appearance that shocks the entire Marvel multiverse. This character was none other than Toshinori Yagi, also known as All Might and the former Japan’s No. 1 Hero.

The iconic collaboration between All Might and Deadpool is one of the funniest moments in the entire series, and it also mentions My Hero Academia’s creator, Kohei Horikoshi. However, the most epic part of the entire narrative is All Might defeating Thanos with just one of his United States of Smash punches.

The moves hold a special place in the hearts of My Hero Academia fans, as they were used by All Might to defeat All for One in the series. Also, the ultimate team-up between the most uncanny superhero and the symbol of peace is something that fans don’t get to see so often.
