Replacing Laura Bailey from the games, Dever’s Abby caused extreme anxiety among fans as she is responsible for Joel’s death in the games. While creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann mentioned that the two games will be expanded to accommodate various moments in the games, fans are afraid of Dever doing the deed in the show.

It is not confirmed whether Pedro Pascal’s Joel will be killed off in the second season as the creators teased more seasons. However, Kaitlyn Dever might have to gear up to face immense hate and perpetual distrust from the fans.

Will Kaitlyn Dever Get The Fabien Frankel Treatment From House of the Dragon?

With the introduction of Abby Anderson in season 2, The Last of Us begins an arc that might end up in tragedy just like the games. Anderson brutally kills Joel in the second part of the game and Ellie has to go on alone for the rest without the fan-favorite character. The casting of Kaitlyn Dever had already caused fear to fans.

One issue that many predict might happen is Dever bearing the brunt of what Abby is destined to do. Many fans have often harassed actors online for their characters’ actions and the result has been extremely disturbing. Actors like Jake Lloyd in the Star Wars prequels were subjected to such intense harassment that they quit.

The most recent example is House of the Dragon star Fabien Frankel, who plays Ser Criston Cole in the HBO series. The character’s shifting allegiance and morally corrupt actions have made him the most detested character in the show, rivaling that of Joffrey Baratheon in the flagship series Game of Thrones.

According to Mashable, the hate got so bad for Frankel that he was found to have limited his Instagram comments to reduce hateful messages. The show’s Ewan Mitchell was also found to have faced online bullying for his n*de scene in the show.

The Last of Us and Hosue of the Dragon are available to stream on Max.
