Speaking on the post-finale featurette, the showrunner said season 3 will be about “total war”.

While this season was very much about the fits and starts of an early medieval war, season three is clearly going to be about total war,

However, following the scale of these productions, fans aren’t too thrilled about the prolonged wait, especially considering fans were expecting more action in this season.

With HBO rolling the ball on season 3, it’ll be interesting to see if Condal and the studio have plans for more installments in mind for HOD. According to its author, George R.R. Martin, the show would need a minimum of four seasons to do the entirety of Dance of the Dragons justice.

It is going to take four full seasons of 10 episodes each to do justice to the Dance of the Dragons, from start to finish.

As of now, it can’t be said for sure if a season four is on the cards or Condal aims to conclude the prequel series with the third installment. But for House of the Dragon season 3, fans will desperately hope it lives up to the season-long build-up and goes out with a bang, which GOT is notable for.
