While players face this issues now, The First Descendant developer Nexon had said different about farming in the game. Speaking to Game Rant, game director Minseok Joo had said that the team wants to give priority to players enjoying the game and not spending a lot of time to farm items.

The developer said that it doesn’t want to make farming a chore and leave it to players. Here’s what Minseok Joo had stated,

Regarding looting, we actually don’t want the players to spend too much time, just spending a reasonable amount of time on some aspects, and we design it so that you get a reasonable amount of rewards through that.

Minseok Joo further added that with the collected resources, players will be free to choose different strategies on how they want to continue playing the game. He said that players can try new things with their collected loot with different methods to make the gaming experience unique and exciting.

Players have criticized the drop rates in the game and the developer has promised overhauled drops with the latest patch 1.0.5 with several improvements. This comes after the developer previously reduced the rewards player could get from the Fortress’ Vulgus Strategic Outpost.

It has said that the drop rate systems are functioning well but acknowledged that some players still are having issues. The developer has said that it is working on a new system that will help players easily get the items they are looking for.

The developer also said that it is working on how it can “take care for the drop-rate issue’ with the diverse reward systems with all the missions and items in the game. It added, “We hope to make improvements before long to provide a more rational and satisfying farming experience.”
