Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the best action-adventure games released in recent times. Despite the heavy abundance of some huge titles in 2023, like Baldur’s Gate 3, Diablo 4, and Starfield, this game amassed a huge player base.

After this grand success, a DLC release was quite evident. Sometime after the release of this game, there were some serious leaks about a potential DLC that surfaced as well. But as things stand, we likely are not going to see any expansions for the game anytime soon.

Recently, Insomniac Games posted a short clip of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay from its official Twitter handle. In that tweet, a dedicated fan asked the developing company about any potential news on any DLC of the game. However, the developers disappointed all of us with their statement.

It’s been eight months that fans have been waiting for a DLC of the game, but there weren’t any whispers from the company. As the story mode of the game was brief in length, fans expected a DLC right after its launch. But after this reply from Insomniac Games, the community is disappointed.

Just like this game, the predecessor of it was quite successful, and as a result, we saw it get multiple expansions. Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps was released in 2018, which is a collection of downloadable content.

It served as an epilogue to the main game’s story following its conclusion, where the titular character had to face the mob boss, Hammerhead. This DLC contained three distinct chapters: The Heist, Turf Wars, and Silver Lining.

After the release of patch 1.002.000, there were some new features like New Game+, new suits, and much more. However, that update contained the teaser of the DLC of the game as well.

Players later found out that there was an accessible development game menu, which unlocked the settings for items, enemies, and health. But there was a strict announcement from Insomniac Games that those who use the menu might face corrupted save data and trophy progress.

However, in that menu, players found out about an entire battle arc in an upcoming DLC called the ‘Beetle Villain Arc.‘ From the Beetle Janice Intro, we could get to know who the villain of Spider-Man could have been in this expansion.

According to that option, Janice Lincoln, the daughter of super-powered mobster Tombstone, would have become the next hurdle of our favorite web-slinging superhero.

There was also the huge leak from last year, which saw multiple confidential future plans become public information, as well as the private information of many employees at Insomniac.

It seems that the developers may have changed their strategy completely, and the community may come to rue the leaks altogether.
