2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness marked the first introduction of Fantastic Four in the MCU. However, their brief appearance came to a gruesome end at the hands of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda, who decimated Mr. Fantastic alongside the other members of Earth 838’s Illuminati.

Now, in Deadpool & Wolverine, which is set to become one of the biggest releases of the year, thanks to the boatloads of cameos, another fellow Fantastic Four character met a brutal end. Reflecting on this growing trend, it’s now up to Pedro Pascal’s Fantastic Four to get things right for the iconic Marvel IP.

The 2000s were an interesting time for CBMs. While on one hand, releases like Spider-Man 2, X-Men, and The Dark Knight trilogy redefined the CBM landscape, there was also a plethora of less-than-thrilling and forgettable superhero experiences. 2005’s Fantastic Four falls in the latter category, which starred Chris Evans in the role of Human Torch.

As for the sequel, despite being a slight improvement over its predecessor, it was overshadowed by other major CBM releases at the time, which put the IP on ice for a good 8 years. With the property now back to Marvel, fans are desperately waiting for a proper depiction of the iconic characters.

However, till now, the Fantastic Four characters have met a pretty brutal end in the MCU, with the recent one being Evans’ Johnny Storm, whose brief return ended after being brutalized by Cassandra Nova. With fans concerned by this growing trend, they shared their desire to see the Fantastic Four being done right onscreen.

But with Deadpool 3 reigniting the spark back in the MCU, fans will hope the iconic Marvel faction will finally get their time to shine.

Speaking on the upcoming MCU release, MCU boss Kevin Feige shared that “90 percent of the work was done” once they assembled the cast for the film. With the film set to be all about the family dynamics in the faction, getting the perfect cast was their foremost job.

It’s all about the family. It’s all about [those] dynamics. So the minute we got that cast that we’ve announced signed up, 90 percent of the work was done. That is what the focus is of the movie

With Pedro Pascal set to lead 2025’s Fantastic Four, which stars Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, fans will expect the characters will be finally done right on the big screen.

Fantastic Four will be released on 25 July 2025.
