Was Ross Unfaithful To Rachel? FRIENDS Fans Have The Answer

The infamous ‘break’ that Ross and Rachel were on in the hit sitcom FRIENDS, became a key factor that defined the complicated love story of these popular characters played by Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer. As part of a group of 6 friends during their adult life, the two characters finally start dating after a string of events that lead to Rachel realizing Ross’ feelings for her. Unfortunately, their fairytale faces a few obstacles which ultimately results in them deciding to take a break from each other.

But just when there seemed to be a glimmer of hope, Rachel realizes that Ross had slept with someone else on the rebound. This turns out to be the last straw that convinces her to end her relationship once and for all. While Ross stands up for himself and insists that he had not cheated on her as they had already broken up, Rachel refuses to see it the same way.

Over the years, netizens have been weighing in on this debate with their own opinions regarding Ross’ actions towards Rachel. A few other fans though, felt that the problem between the two characters was not as clear-cut in terms of who was to blame. They believed that Ross too showed certain patterns of behavior that cannot absolve him from assuming responsibility for his actions. Whichever way one choses to look at it, the fact remains that this storyline in FRIENDS was a pivotal thread that tied all seasons together.

Jennifer Aniston Felt Typecast After Playing Rachel Green

Sometimes, when actors play a character for a long time, especially in series that run for multiple seasons, they become one with the role. They develop such a close relationship with the part that the lines blur between the actor and his or her protagonist. In this manner, Jennifer Aniston became synonymous with her famous FRIENDS character Rachel Green.

Over 10 seasons, fans lapped up everything that Aniston embodied in the role. But playing a protagonist for a lengthy period of time like the celebrity did, also had its drawbacks. Once the series ended and she was ready to take on other projects, she discovered that she could not shed the skin of Rachel Green.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter for the Drama Actress Roundtable, the Bruce Almighty actor elaborated on the challenges she faced while trying to audition for other parts without being judged by or compared with her FRIENDS character.

You just exhaust yourself. I mean, I could not get Rachel Green off of my back for the life of me. I could not escape ‘Rachel from Friends’, and it’s on all the time and you’re like, ‘Stop playing that f*****g show!’

Fortunately for Aniston, she was able to overcome this period by bagging a meaty role in The Good Girl, which saw her channel a completely different side that had no resemblance to her character in FRIENDS. The film saw her receiving a lot of critical acclaim as an actor.

All 10 seasons of Friends can be streamed on Max.
