They noted that while the characters do have custom spacesuits and ships with specialized weapons, they lack unique personal weapons. This oversight has left many players puzzled, and they’re wondering if this can be added in future expansions.

Starfield is Missing Starborn Weapons

The user posted on r/Starfield, wondering why a faction with such advanced technology didn’t have unique weapons. They mentioned that despite the customized spacesuits and ships, their fighters use the same weapons as other factions, which is rather basic and normal. This seemed like a big oversight, which is Bethesda’s specialty these days.

Other users joined the discussion, suggesting that this could be addressed in future DLCs. Some believe that the rumored Starborn DLC might introduce these missing weapons.

They referenced concept art that showed unique guns with design elements similar to those of House Va’ruun. This hinted that the faction might have its own advanced weaponry, which could have been cut due to time or development costs.

The comments also speculated that Bethesda might have intentionally left out these weapons to keep players focused on other weapons, especially the special abilities and powers. Many players do hope that the upcoming Shattered Space DLC will allow them to obtain or create a signature weapon, much like The Hunter or The Emissary.

One theory also suggested that Va’ruun particle weapons might be based on Starborn technology. The similar particle effects and the Va’ruun’s mastery of particle weaponry do support this idea.

Despite the mystery surrounding the origins of the tech, suits, and ships seem to appear when a Starborn jumps into the universe, suggesting a tech base capable of producing these advanced weapons.

The Rumored Starborn DLC

The speculation about a DLC focused on the faction began when a trademark, submitted by Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media Inc., was spotted. This sparked discussions about whether the DLC would be an expansion-sized addition or a smaller, more focused update.

Todd Howard did previously confirm that Starfield will get yearly expansions, and it seems likely that this would be the title of 2025’s expansion, or at least be a big focus of it.

The possibility of a DLC exploring the game’s multiverse concept is particularly intriguing. This could introduce encounters with multiple versions of the player’s character in alternate universes and much more multiversal shenanigans.

Such a DLC could also address the absence of these weapons by finally adding them in, finally giving players the unique arsenal they’ve been waiting for all this time.

By finally introducing the much-requested weapons and gadgets and expanding on the game’s multiverse concept, Bethesda does have the opportunity to fill this content gap and provide players with the advanced tech they’ve been longing for.

Are you hoping that these weapons finally make it to the game via either of the upcoming DLC expansions? Let us know in the comments below.
