Team Go Rocket is going to take over Pokemon Go once again, being the focus of the game’s latest, limited-time event, Adventure Week: Taken Over event. It’s a known fact that Taken Over events are the best opportunity to secure yourself some shadow mons’, and remove the legacy frustration moves.

With the event, the evil Team Go Rocket leaders are also back with brand-new shadow Pokemon lineups. In previous events, these leaders have given us the opportunity to get some powerful shadow mons’. However, Niantic has dropped the ball for Adventure Week: Taken Over, as we’ve got the worst leader lineup we’ve ever seen.

In every Taken Over event, Niantic gives Team Go Rocket leaders new Pokemon in their teams. They’ve always had some meta-relevant mon’ for Raids or PvP, such as Shadow Beldum, Dratini, and Bagon. These events don’t happen often, so players are excited when we get a new lineup.

However, the latest leader teams have hit rock bottom. Niantic has revealed that the upcoming event will feature Sierra’s Carvanha, Arlo’s Anorith, and Cliff’s Lilpeep.

Since the reveal, the community has gone absolutely wild and bashing Niantic along the way as they simply can’t understand why the studio can’t make a single good decision for the game.

Some players are still hoping that this reveal is fake, as it’s simply so disappointing to see after months of waiting for the lineup change.

Sure, Shadow Sarpedo, Carvanha’s evolution, has some use as a Raid attacker against Fire, Rock, and Ground types, but it doesn’t offer much value. The rest of the mons’ are not viable for anything in the game.

Undoubtedly, it’s one of the worst rotations we’ve ever seen, and the community agrees as well. Most of the players have declared that they won’t even bother battling the Pokemon Go leaders until their lineup changes in the next Taken Over event.

This Year’s Adventure Week Has Been a Big Disappointment

It’s a known fact that Pokemon Go‘s yearly event, Adventure Week, has always been loved by fans as it offers players the chance to catch rare mons and take up some exciting challenges. However, so far, this year’s event has been a disaster, with many in the community feeling disappointed and frustrated.

One of the most significant issues with this year’s event was the fact that it was basically a cut-copy paste of the 2023 event, but with some changes that made everything worse. Some of the most anticipated event spawns were, for no reason, locked behind 7-km eggs.

Even the increased shiny odds for this event’s Pokemon have been limited to eggs and research tasks. Still, players were hopeful that with the Taken Over aspect of the event and the changed leader lineup, Niantic could make up for the event, but they’ve been proven wrong.

If Niantic was going to give us such an awful Taken Over event, they could’ve at least made it up by bringing Shadow Rayquaza for Giovanni’s team this time. However, they even skipped that and opted for Cresseila, which, again, outside of PvP, doesn’t have much use.

We can only hope Niantic takes the player feedback from this event and makes up for the next one whenever it happens.

Do you think Niantic should’ve featured any other Pokemon for Team Go Rocket leaders? Let us know in the comments.
