Skyrim players are no strangers to finding new bugs and glitches in the decade-old title. And this Redditor has brought us the Dragonborn who is easily the worst talker in all of the game. This unusual scenario has left the player unable to persuade or bribe anyone in the game. Aside from the incredible funniness of the situation, this makes it so the player can’t complete certain quests that require persuasion or bribery.

According to what the player shared, the issue first arose 46 hours into their playthrough, when they realized that simple persuasion and bribes required impossibly high amounts of gold.

This led to the discovery that their character’s speech skill, which is what determines the values of these mechanics, had dropped to almost negative one million.

According to the player, this dramatic drop in speech occurred without any mods or known exploits, save for the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, which typically resolves bugs rather than causes them.

The community was quick to offer potential solutions and humorous commentary. Some players suggested checking for any magic items or enchantments that might have caused the glitch.

Others proposed using console commands to rectify the issue, though this is not an option for Xbox One players like NoAdministration1070.

Some suggested it might be a mod malfunction but NoAdministration1070 insisted that no mods were used other than the Unofficial Skyrim Patch. Other commenters suggested that it might be the result of an integer overflow, a bug that can occur when numbers exceed their maximum possible value.

The comments on the Reddit posts were filled with more jokes than actual responses. One user joked that the character might be the first to fail the persuasion check to enter Whiterun and be the most socially awkward character in Skyrim history.

The community likened the situation to previous bizarre glitches and recalled the game’s long history of entertaining bugs.

Despite this incredible bug, NoAdministration1070 has decided to soldier on with their character. They mentioned that starting over or loading an older save would mean losing progress in the game. Instead, they plan to continue playing until they can grind their Speech skill back into a positive value.

The community has supported this choice with many players sharing tips on how to increase the speech skill quickly, such as exploiting hidden merchant chests or using certain in-game items. Interestingly, the game’s mechanics have continued to function normally despite the negative speech value.

Released in 2011, Bethesda‘s Skyrim has seen numerous updates and mods over the years, yet it continues to surprise players with its quirks. These glitches have contributed to the game’s enduring popularity by providing players with unexpected and often hilarious experiences.
