Jujutsu Kaisen is often regarded as one of the Big Three in modern-generation anime. Since its inception in 2018, it has seen massive growth in its manga sales. After the anime was released, it reached an unimaginable height, winning multiple Crunchyroll Awards. Satoru Gojo and Ryomen Sukuna became some of the most popular characters ever, and their designs were loved by all.
Gege Akutami’s designs are praised worldwide, and even the Bleach creator was full of appreciation for them. With the modern generation mangaka using digital designs, the Jujutsu Kaisen creators kept themselves apart by implementing one small detail. Tite Kubo was shocked to hear the revelation from Akutami.

Jujutsu Kaisen manga has sold over 90 million copies worldwide. Gege Akutami has done a fantastic job with the manga, and their characters give off a traditional vibe. Even though they were not a fan of drawing manga, they picked it up from their friends. Initially, all their designs were analog because the digital concept was unpopular. But Jujutsu Kaisen was different. The entire manga was digitally designed, but they always kept a traditional touch.
During an interview with Tite Kubo, the Bleach creator revealed he had problems changing to digital pens. He was in awe after knowing Gege Akutami was not a traditional artist. He said,
Though I must say, your designs have a very analog texture to them. I asked if you’re a traditional artist during our introductions earlier and was shocked to learn that you draw digitally.
Akutami revealed that they are no expert and try to wrap up things with whatever they feel is easier to apply.

Kubo is one of the most celebrated mangaka ever, creating Bleach. Bleach was serialized almost two decades ago when everything was done traditionally. So, it was tough for him to change into the digital structure. Kubo admitted that he was not good enough with digital designs and needed to improve. But the Jujutsu Kaisen creator left him in shock with how they made their digital designs look so traditional. It was hard for the Bleach creator to digest it.

Gege Akutami is a massive Bleach stan. The mangaka mentioned their magnum opus was influenced by Tite Kubo’s Bleach. They did not intend to copy all of his works and took his works as inspiration. There are countless mangaka who were influenced by other mangaka and based their characters and designs on them. But Gege Akutami is different. They added their elements and inspiration into the manga and created one of the best manga ever.
Both Bleach and Jujutsu Kaisen boast a massive fandom. While the latter has enjoyed a continuous growth since its first season in 2021, Bleach returned after a decade and won over the fans again. Everyone had been waiting for the Thousand-Year Blood War for a long time, and it had fulfilled everyone’s expectations. Bleach and Jujutsu Kaisen running together is something everyone wished for. It is not every day that two separate generations of Big Three exist at the same time.
Jujutsu Kaisen and Bleach manga are available on Viz Media.
