Elden Ring’s characters, like actual people, are rarely simple to understand or read through. Throughout the many stories that dwell in the Lands Between, few conclude without vagueness and room for further exploration.
One of these characters is Melina, a mysterious personality players encounter in the game early on. Even after the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, players are curious as to how she will show up in the series if she ever does so again.

Players Want to Know More About Melina’s Role in Elden Ring
In Elden Ring, Melina serves an important purpose when players are just introduced to the world around them. She lends a hand, often letting them know where they should be headed next and what’s their role in this universe.
However, the DLC never truly explores her role further, leaving the community guessing what happened to her, or if FromSoftware has plans for this character in the future.
I’m so disappointed we won’t get a continuation of this.

Based on one of the endings in the base game, she may also turn out to be an antagonist rather than a friendly character we’d like her to be. For instance, consider the possibility that you choose to go for the Frenzied Flame ending.
Melina Won’t Hesitate to Stop You if It Comes to That
When it comes to thinking about another DLC for the game, the trickiest part is imagining things in the context of “continuation” since players can get different endings based on their experience. Hence, Melina’s character might not be the same as how she was in the beginning.
In the story, there comes a point where she warns the Tarnished against inheriting the Frenzied Flame without first talking to her about it. After all, this ending ends all life, something that she isn’t in favor of.
In case players don’t take her advice, she goes on to say that Melina will no longer aid them and threatens to kill them if they ever become the Lord of Chaos.
I can play the role of maiden. Turning rune fragments into strength. To aid you in your search for the Elden Ring. You need only take me with you. To the foot of the Erdtree.
This is a big change in her character as compared to when we meet her at the beginning of the game. FromSoftware could expand her lore further, but who’s to say that this will happen? All we can do now is build theories and hope her character gets more attention from FromSoftware in the future.
