Recently, Cameron announced the title of the third film, as well as what fans can expect from it, and he did not hold back. Speaking only in praise, the director is certainly ready to announce yet another record-breaking film.

Recently, James Cameron made an appearance at the D23 expo (via Variety), where he went into great detail about the next film in the Avatar series. He started by revealing that the title of the film is Avatar: Fire and Ash. On top of showcasing how he can represent elements even more effortlessly than Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender, he also talked about what fans can expect from the film.

Adding to the hype surrounding the project, Cameron revealed that the film is going to take the audiences through a journey. Fans are going to see a lot more of Pandora in the next film, further opening the box and exploring the world that he has been creating for years.
It’s an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it’s also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before. We’re going into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love.
He also mentioned that the stakes and challenges are going to be significantly higher in the upcoming movie. Rather than playing it safe, Cameron took the direction of playing with the audience’s emotions and giving them exactly what they came for—a good story.
James Cameron Sets Expectations of Greatness
It is safe to say that James Cameron is setting a very high bar for himself when it comes to Avatar: Fire and Ash. Considering how the previous parts have become some of the most successful films of all time, there were already a lot of expectations from the third part. However, Cameron is known for his excellent filmmaking, and his faith in a film only makes its validity more believable.
In the list of the top films with the highest lifetime grosses (via Box Office Mojo), James Cameron has always been in the lead. Although the second film from his beloved series reached the third spot on the list, the first Avatar film has been in constant battle with Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. Although the title was held by the Marvel movie at one point, it was not for long.
Considering how this title has been held by Cameron’s 2009 film for an impressive number of years, it is difficult to think that any other movie would be able to beat it. However, seeing how much confidence the director has in his work, one cannot help but wonder if his upcoming film will be the one to dethrone his past work and do what Avengers: Endgame couldn’t.
