In Pokemon GO, various feature encourages and create a cooperative environment for players, enhancing the overall gameplay. One standout feature in the game is the friendship system, which not only offers both parties various benefits like exchanging gifts, and trade discounts but also provides huge experience points (EXP).
However, some players are abusing this system for only personal gain, leaving the other party discouraged and without benefits. This has created frustration among many players, leading them to call Niantic to help fix this issue.
Players Frustrated With Friendship System in Pokemon GO
The friendship system in Pokemon GO is there to encourage players to collaborate and interact with each other. Players can have up to 450 friends on their list and by adding them, they unlock various new features. Players can now exchange gifts with each other, earn bonuses on gym battles, and unlock special rewards (Trade discount).
The system is supposed to be designed to enhance the game’s social exchanges, encouraging positive interactions and inspiring teamwork. However, there are many players who have been exploiting this system intentionally to disrupt the experience of others.
For those who are unfamiliar with this exploit, these players are intentionally unfriending before the other player claims their EXP rewards. By doing so, they are the only one who gets the reward. This highlights that their only motivation is to ruin other player’s experience.
Recently, Reddit User, Mason051, made a post asking the game developer Niantic to fix this issue as quickly as possible. After seeing the post, the community has been fairly active and speculating about what possible can the developer make.

Niantic Should Address this Issue Immediately
Pokémon GO thrives due to its community, and when players try to disrupt the collective experience, it goes against what the game is designed to do. The friendship system is one of the cornerstones of the game as it promotes social interactions.
By undermining this feature, the game risks discouraging new players from fully engaging with the game. However, Niantic has the golden opportunity to address this situation and help restore the game to its intended spirit of cooperation and fun.
This will not only encourage new players to fully utilize the friendship system but also show the players that the studio is committed to listening to its player’s feedback and increasing their experience. In the end, players are still enjoying the game and its various features in hopes that Niantic will do something about the issues.
