The Infinity Saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came to an epic conclusion with 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Among the flurry of returning characters playing small pivotal roles. Tilda Swinton‘s Ancient One makes an appearance in the film as she converses with Bruce Banner about the Time Stone and Doctor Strange giving it up to Thanos in the present timeline.

In an interview with Indiewire, the Marvel star revealed that she had already shot a version of her scene and had to reshoot it a year later. She was surprised at being called back but it turned out to be an incredible pleasure to return. A couple of lines and plot points had been changed and the actress praised the incredible outcome of it. Swinton said,

It was a surprise to me, too! And it was a pleasure. But what was a real surprise was, we shot it one summer day, and then over a year later, I went back to reshoot it because a couple of lines had been changed, a couple of plot points had been changed. That was amazing, and a whole other world of filmmaking. But, boy, was it worth it. They tweaked it into something extraordinary.

Avengers: Endgame became a cultural phenomenon and neatly tied up all the interconnected narratives of the Infinity Saga. Marvel has been trying to live up to the legacy created with the Infinity Saga and is reuniting the team once again in the two upcoming Avengers films as they go up against Doctor Doom.
