Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is an all-new take on our favorite Web-Head, an original animated series from Marvel Animation, independent from any version of the character that has come before. However, there is one twist that the creators of the show have inserted into the story which might propel it into the fan-favorite category, possibly surpassing X-Men ’97.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has a unique take on Spider-Man’s mentor, who has usually been an older superhero in one form or another. Be it Captain America in the comics or Tony Stark/Iron Man in the MCU, Spider-Man has always found himself under the wing of a superhero, who is impressed by his commitment to doing good in the community, and the grit that the character poses to do the right thing, despite all the odds being stacked against.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will see Peter Parker mentored by Norman Osborn
In a twist reminiscent of Insomniac’s Spider-Man game, Peter Parker will be mentored by Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Fans are particularly enthralled by this change of pace that Peter Parker finds himself in, being mentored by a super-powered individual who is not on the straight and narrow.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will add yet another iteration of Peter Parker in the ever-growing Spider-Verse and can be expected to make an appearance the next time Spider-People have their own little mega-crossover. It goes without saying that the show will be distinct from the MCU, but this version of Peter Parker might not find its way into Avengers: Secret Wars.
While not canon in the MCU, the show is set to have one major MCU connection
Charlie Cox will be reprising his role as Daredevil for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. The show has been described as being a part of an alternate timeline, that features all of Spider-Man’s rogues gallery that has been absent from the MCU, including characters like Rhino, Tombstone, and Doctor Octavius.
Given that Cox has already made an appearance in Spider-Man’s corner of the universe, it is expected that the character will popping up in future Spider-Man movies more often. There is potent support for the character’s inclusion in Spider-Man 4, and given that the film is expected to be a little more grounded, his presence would not seem out of place in costume.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to feature other street-level characters like White Tiger, The Punisher, and Muse, all of whom would fit right in with Spider-Man’s new status quo.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is expected to start streaming in late 2024.
