In a shocking turn of events, back in September 2023, the Wolverine actor and Deborra-Lee Furness amicably ended their marriage of 27 years. Despite their split, they remained close friends as the latter was in attendance at her ex’s 55th birthday celebration back in October last year.

Since then, the duo have been spotted in solo outlets with the X-Men actor hanging out with Reynolds and Lively as per PEOPLE. As for his ex-wife, she has reflected on their split, telling the outlet in another interview, “[I learned] that I’m strong and resilient. And that I — we are all a constant evolution.”

Reynolds hasn’t shied away from poking fun at his friend’s divorce, keeping it playful. Even director Shawn Levy set the facts straight about a specific Deadpool line in which he stated, ‘He’s normally shirtless, but he’s let himself go since the divorce.’ Levy explained that Jackman had already passed those dialogues, telling Variety,

Ryan or I would always run the lines by performers and make sure everyone felt comfortable and that we were never punching down. It was all in a playful spirit that everyone felt good about.

By incorporating his personal experience on the camera, he only added dimension to his character, making the humor more resonating with viewers. Their team-up together is garnering immense praise and commercial success, as the movie crosses $1B at the worldwide box office, as per the Numbers.
