XDefiant, the free-to-play first-person shooter from Ubisoft was supposed to be a Call of Duty-killer or at least it was labeled as such. The game borrows a couple of things from other shooter titles and adds factions from other Ubisoft titles for a somewhat unique experience.

There was a lot of anticipation for the game and a large number of players jumped in to check it out upon launch. However, since then the game has been said to be ‘mid‘ by many and there a bunch of problems including cheaters and hackers, and the cheating problem has only worsened with time.

There was a lot of hype around XDefiant and the game did make a lot of waves when it launched. Fans really like the classic shooter feel of the game and want to keep playing with characters from different Ubisoft franchises.

But like everything good, the bad also came as cheaters set their sights on it. From shooting through the walls to using auto aim, speed tricks, and other illicit hacks to get an upper hand over other players.

While this is seen in almost every shooter titles and there are hackers in every game, the situation has worsened as the cheaters are booting players off the lobby.

One fan shared a clip on Reddit, showing a streamer, playing the Occupy arena game mode and they were booted by a hacker soon as the match started. The player themselves couldn’t believe it.

The hacker even told the streamer that if they get banned, they’ll be back at it again with a new account.

Cheaters Have Been Prevalent in XDefiant Since Launch

Fans have said that this is very common in ranked and happens in almost every other match. The streamer is also apparently a Ubisoft partner as per their X handle so hopefully the developer knows that this is happening.

The game desperately needs harsher bans and new methods to keep hackers away. The game had a massive launch and reached one million users in record time for Ubisoft.

But only a couple of days after the release, the cheaters were being seen in the game. Mark Rubin and Ubisoft did take some measures but it seems they did not yield the results as expected.

The hackers started using wall hacks and aimbots and the legitimate players were left disappointed, unable to do anything. The game uses the anti-cheat, BattleEye, which is the same one used in games like Rainbow Six: Siege, Escape from Tarkov, and other games.

But it doesn’t seem to be helping at all. The developer needs to take care of this unless it wants to lose more players. Allegedly there are many who have quit the game due to this and if not handled, many more will follow.
