Back in 2002, Charlie Sheen tied the knot with Denise Richards, who was notable for starring opposite Pierce Brosnan in 1999’s The World Is Not Enough. Although the duo welcomed two children during their 4 year-long marriage, things would eventually fall apart, and the Bond girl actress held Sheen’s antics responsible for it.

But before the two eventually parted ways, most, including Sheen’s costar Jon Cryer, was under the impression that things were going buttery smooth for the duo. However, Cryer recalled he finally got a glance into the cracks of their relationship after Sheen burst into his trailer with his stash of adult magazines.

When Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer joined forces for Two and a Half Men, the former was only married for a year to Denise Richards. While things were looking picture-perfect for the duo from an outside perspective, Cryer soon got a taste of the Platoon star’s dysfunctional marriage. The Pretty in Pink star recounted that during season 1 of Two and a Half Men, Sheen burst into his trailer and asked him to hide something for him as “Denise is coming over”.

Cryer initially feared the actor might’ve brought drugs to his trailer, but per the actor ‘it was a bag filled to the brim with p-rn”, which took his costar by surprise.

In his memoir, So That Happened (via THR), he further elaborated:

He handed me a heavy shopping bag. ‘Denise is coming over,’ he said, ‘and I need you to hide something for me.’ Oh, boy, I thought. If this is drug paraphernalia … ‘Is it legal?’ I asked. ‘What? Yeah, oh, yeah. It’s legal. Hey, thanks.’ He left, and I had to look. By legal, he meant barely legal. The bag was filled to the brim with p-rn.

Things would eventually fall apart in Sheen’s marriage, as after welcoming their first daughter, Richards, who was six months pregnant at the time, filed for divorce following Sheen’s antics.

While it wasn’t drugs that the Major League star brought in Cryer’s trailer during the first season, his issue with substance abuse and other string of controversies would contribute to his exit from Two and a Half Men. However, things eventually changed for the better for the actor, as after finally quitting drugs, Sheen decided to give up drinking after he failed to keep his promise to his daughter. Sheen stated-

One morning I’d forgotten my daughter had an appointment I’d promised to drive her to, and I’d already had a couple of pops that day… So I had to call my friend Tony to take us. We got her there on time, but it broke my heart because she was in the backseat and I could just tell she was thinking, ‘Why isn’t dad driving?’ So I got home and sat with that for the rest of the day. And the next morning I just stopped.

Moreover, the actor also decided to leave his feud with showrunner Chuck Lorre in the past, and per The Big Bang Theory creator, it didn’t take them long to reconcile after finally talking.

Two and a Half Men is available to stream on Max.
