The upcoming Marvel movie, Thunderbolts, has been garnering a lot of attention ever since the trailer leaked online. In fact, the film is being compared to the 2016 DCEU movie, The Suicide Squad, because of this similarity.

It seems like this new movie is Marvel’s response to its DCEU counterpart, but fans’ reactions ensure it may far surpass the previous film. Thunderbolts promises a star-studded cast, including Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Harrison Ford as Red Hulk, and many more.

One scene fans just can’t get over showcased Stan’s character washing his prosthetic arm in a dishwasher. This leaked scene showcased a unique brand of humor that fans can get behind. The film has a new take on the anti-hero genre, and with Marvel’s recent track record of producing highly engaging movies, the movie may beat all competition.

The massive hit, which had multiple problems

The 2016 movie The Suicide Squad performed remarkably well at the box office. With an opening of $133.7 million domestically and finishing with a domestic total of $325.1 million, it went on to earn a worldwide total of $746.8 million.

But despite this financial success, there were several aspects of the film that were not well received by the viewers. Jared Leto’s portrayal of the iconic DCEU villain, Joker, had mixed reviews. Even the plot seemed messy and chaotic for many fans, who felt Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn was the film’s saving grace.

Fans unanimously agree that it was the great marketing of the film that led to it becoming such a hit. Harley Quinn‘s merchandise, posters, and the soundtrack of the film were everywhere. Her character definitely shined in the movie, which received otherwise lukewarm reviews. The film’s plot and poor character development left many fans underwhelmed.

But it seems like Marvel’s Thunderbolts has the potential to correct the wrongs of the 2016 film. The film’s first look and leaked scenes of the trailer have gotten mostly positive and anticipative responses from fans. Only time will tell if this movie can live up to the hype it has already created.
